Garand Pricing

Yes, who would of thunk it, the price of lee enfields on the ee is catching up and even surpassing some garands.

Well they aren't making any more of either and imports have pretty much dried up now.

On pricing built up rifles using either a $50 Breda/Beretta receiver as a basis, a Criterion or NOS GI barrel, and a Boyds stock set, and a set of high quality serviceable parts that do not require finishing, a trip around the parts bazaars nowadays indicates a total parts cost of approx. $1400-$1500. The low Cdn dollar is not helping. Then there is the cost of tooling and gunsmithing services as necessary. When valuing used rifles one would need to discount the cost of any replacement parts, re-finishing and gunsmith labour needed to bring the piece back to a high standard. Collector grade rifles remain in a category of their own. It's getting to be a pretty expensive pastime.

P.S. If anyone has sources for quality Garand parts sets that do not require refinishing and sell for less than $1400-$1500 today please let us all know.

What is the best price a M1 garand should go for ?

depends on what you want, do you want all original part numbers matching garand used in WW2 or a italian receiver reparkerized with a new barrel and new wooden stock set with NOS/used parts?... you'd be looking at 1400-1600 for a nice new looking shooter.. originals cost from 1600-2000 and up..

I predict prices are gona still go higher. cant afford to build them for what some have been selling for anymore. dollar is killing us getting parts
