Garand Rifle Grenades

Hey Ganderite

I live reasonably close to you. Next time I pass through your area, I would love to drop by and let you launch a couple. Most fun you can have with your pants on.
I prefer to fire them "from the shoulder". The recoil is nowhere near as bad as people think. I do not recommend firing them with the butt on the ground "mortar style". You will end up with a face full of unburnt powder. Kinda stings....
Firing rifle grenades causes no damage to the rifle as the gas plug is open and the action (op rod) will not cycle

If you are firing grenades "from the shoulder" and "the recoil is nowhere near as bad as people think" you ain't using the correct cartridge. And when launching grenade with the butt on the ground there are two things to remember: 1) wear a helmet and 2) when you pull the trigger the top of the helmet should be face the muzzle.

P. S. pm me with your email address and I will send you a pdf file of the U. S. Army's field manual that tell you all about firing rifle grenades.

Hi Wizard

You sent me all that information a long time ago. It was very helpful and much appreciated. I use 48gr of IMR 4895 in my cartridges and crimp the case mouth (I bought the dies) for the heavier Energa style RG's. For the grenade projector, I use a tennis ball and dial the charge back a little. Otherwise I would spend most of my time walking down range to retrieve it. I have a video but, I cannot upload it. I will send it to you

On this note, I have been looking for the tail fin section that snaps onto the grenade for my 43 SA display rifle, have the sights and launcher (with belt holder) but missing the grenade end still, would like to finish out the display if anyone has spare one.

PM me

Gary

What rifle grenade do you have? The M11A3 has a different fin assembly than the M29.
