I have read a lot of posts on this subject, and I am aware the garand is not meant to be scoped but I am seeking some success stories, and answers regarding the specific mounts for garands.
I am aware of the mounts available for garands...one mounted where rear iron sight is, to the left of the action. The other option is forward of the action towards the front of the rifle. So I took my garand and held it in a firing position while someone held the scope in both locations. At the rear position, it felt awkward looking to the left side of the rifle. Can the rifle be fired comfortably and reliably with the use of a cheek guard attached to the stock? When the scope was placed at the forward position of the rifle, it appeared that the outer edges of my view would blur out, and I lost some filed of view, although the crosshair remained crisp and clear. Is there a way to keep full view of the scope when your eyes are further from it?
If anyone has had success with this, please post....I am hesitant to buy the mount if its not worth the troubles.
