hey guys. I have been surfing e ### and cant understand the pricing for these sights. Im looking for a compleat rear sight, the price ranges from 50 bucks to 250... what gives? what will work and what do I actualy need. I dont plan to do pro match shooting, just sunday afternoon plinking and moose/deer hunting. can some one please help me out?

American garand collector's pay more to match up collectable rifles than canadian's will. No one here wants to pay for real collectable matching rifles like american will.

A $200 sight might be a complete National Match sight. Finer adjustments.
Buying or selling on E-Bay gives money to the people who don't think you should be allowed to own any firearms, of any kind.
"...looking for a..." Your rifle have no rear sight at all?

sunray, huh? ya, It has a sight, but its not all that great, and by that I mean its ####. Who ever was runing the mill that day missed the marks by a mile. I have it cranked all the way to the right just to center the sight and get it shooting straight

Matt308, that should not happen even with a norc rear sight. Did you zero the rifle by moving the front sight left or right while leaving the rear sight lined up on the center index mark? Rear adjustment knobs were meant to be used for elev and windage corrections only.
USGI sights are certainly a good upgrade in my book. Hope you find one.

j996, your right, it should not happed....but it did lol When the rear sight is in the center mark, the apature is way WAY to the left. Its not in the middle of the sight base.

Can you use a Garand sight on a Norc?

I need to know as I'm buying parts right now to return my post war Garand rear sight to 1943 issue. I can buy the whole sight or just the parts I need. If I buy the whole sight, could I remove my post war USGI Garand rear sight and use it on my Norc? Would it be worthwhile upgrading the Norc with a Garand sight.

I know that using Garand trigger parts are a cheap way to upgrade the Norc's trigger. Thx

The only difference between the two is M1 is graduated in yards, M14 in meters. That's it. And yes if you're actually going to use your irons, get one.

I understand that there are minor diferences, like yards and meters..What I dont understand is why some are 200 and others are 45. Are the cheep ones the real deal?

it all depends on the seller,I have gotten garand sights on e-bay for 50 bucks and the first one cost 185 depends on who is bidding or what the seller is asking, some times you get lucky other times not.It all depends how bad you want the sight

The front post on my Garand is over to the right quite a bit with the windage centered. Just the way the rifle shoots. Just center your windage and adjust the post to walk your shots back to center at close range, then dial it in with the windage knob at the range you like to shoot at.

Best bet is the Italian BM59 sights. There was a guy on eBay who then switched to gunbroker.com selling them direct from Italy. $55US and the sights were really nice. Not sure if he's still around.

PS This guy has a bunch for $55 plus shipping. They are advertised as USGI. He also has one new Beretta.

Does anyone know if the sights on the Garands from Denmark are original sights post war upgraded or would they be Italian made sights. I have a Dannish '43 Springfield Armoury Garand that I'm trying to restore and it has a mixture of Italian (Beretta bolt), Dannish (VAR barrel) and SA parts?

How would I check to find out?

Reason I ask is because I can get just the original '43 locking bar, etc for the sight on my Garand to restore it to '43 status or a complete WW2 sight. Don't want to put WW2 parts on a post war base. If I get the complete authentic sight I can then use the one from my Garand on my Norc shorty build.

Thx
