Garand Stock from Boyd's?

Hi,

I have an IH Garand 1956. I want to buy a new stock for it but don't know whether I should buy the Boyd's stock (unstained---under $100 rule???? for export) from their website? Or, is there another recommendation?

I just got my unfinished Boyds today and its great! even fit good to! Just need the linseed oil it and am good

No problem with importing as long as you keep it under $100. The only option other than Boyds is to ebay a used stock, but this is a crapshoot on quality when you stay under $100. Most of the good/original used ones go for more than this.

The Boyds aren't necessarily a drop-in fit, but they can be fitted w/o too much effort.

Linseed oil vs Tung Oil

Would Tung oil be just as good as linseed for the unfinished Boyd stock I just ordered.

Tung oil is what the US military used "so yes lol"

If it's any reccomendation, I have a Boyd's stock as well. When I bought my Garand it had only the wood on the rear handguard.
