Whats better Tung oil or Boiled linseed oil?

go with the lineseed oil or preferably double boiled.you can build it up a little by applying seperate coats and allowing each one to penetrate and dry,then rubb a final coat to a nice finish.

The thing about linseed oil (if you do go for it, get double-boiled), is that it isn't a permanent thing. Every so often, say once every month or two, it is good it you give it another bit of a polish with the oil, whereas Tung oil is a more permanent thing and isn't supposed to be given in over and over again.

Tung oil can give the rifle more life in hellish war-like conditions, as it is better at weatherproofing, but Linseed has a more attractive finish.

So long as you don't mind giving your toy a rub down every now and again, I'd say go with the linseed.

Tung oil, properly applied, will give you a light sheen. If don't want a shiny stock, go with the BLO.

ya I agree if you use Tung oil you might as well use a varnish, dont forget to cut the blo with turpentine before hand then reduce the amount until your using pure blo
