Garand --- Where's your brass go?

So I'm out at the range today shooting my newly acquired Garand (#7 for me) and boy does it shoot nicely. Was on the 75 yrd range and got a 3 inch group with 69 surplus. Good for me with my eyes.

Anyway when I go out to pick up the brass it's all infront of the rifle even to the left. What causes this? Anyone else have this happen aswell?

no it all looks good and did I say shoots real nice too.

I'm guessing it could be the extractor or the ejector or the springs.
 
the position of ejected brass depends on the ammo/ hotter ammo more chance of being forward. hotter ammo = fast cycling of action .
i have an article on reloading for the m-1..........an old but good article and such is mentioned.

^This, and I've heard it through the grapevine that M-14 ejector springs can fit into the Garand bolt. It is said they are stronger and will cause unusual ejection patterns. Heck, I've got a Tanker Garand copy and I have to wear shooting glasses as the ejected empties, more often than not bonk me in the face! :redface: (cleaned & lubed)

You should be wearing them anyway. LOL

I was shooting 69 LC Surplus. While I was shooting it I thought to myself wow that's one heck of a kick for a Garand. Thought it might have just been from not having a Smith Break on this one.
