Garands in our future?

I would love a grand but not at the current price point they seek. Unless the US government says too South Korea " you keep them they are yours" I do not foresee any being imported too Canada. I doubt we would even see them broken down for parts.

I paid $125 for my M1 back in 1998 and sold it for $240 in 2006. if we could get prices that low again I would be interested. I don't think any garand is worth more then $500 max.

In 1995, an SVT-40 was $335 and a Garand was $250-$275 (Special Select) at Districorp as well as the $99 Junkers.

The SVT-40 is $299 today.

You can thank Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan and all the Gamers for driving up the price, because a Garand should be below $299 when you look at the stats...
 
At the last Tulsa, OK Gunshow in April 2013 , junker Garands where going for $700.00 US were Garands are plentifull. At that time Century Arms had just won the bidding war for the first lot of 80,000 rifles from Korea and everybody was sure the importation of these was just around the corner. I personnally think that the Korean Garands will end up in the smelter (like the Philipino and Italian ones), now that Obama has ruled against any imports of Former US made military weapons.
 
If the Garands are owned by CAI, and not the US Gov now, CAI will try to recoup some of their investment, if possible. I suspect some small importers (maybe tradex or North sylva?) who has ties ot CAI will try to get some. We shall see.

Alternately, CAI could sit on them until there is a republican in office.
 
As an aside, if we ever do see sub-$500 M1's again, I intend to buy several and set them aside until the next stupid crazy inflationary period.

This is the most likely outcome. Most countries are now signed up to the UN sponsored controls on small arms. There are a lot or international brownie points to be made from this, doubly so with the current UN Sec Gen being a S. Korean.

CAI won the bidding War, but no actual purchase has taken place. Those Garands are never making it to the US, Obama has taken care of that by law.
 
Not to mention pointless. There are Garands already in the US that will be sold, will be bought and will be exported.

The most impotent man in the world, achieved the most impotent gun control measure possible.

He may have started a replica line for one of the gun factories that are going to move.

Call it the obama Garand.

It couldn't happen to a bigger moron.

Let that be his legacy.
