I needed a new set of rings slightly shorter than what I had laying around for my Cadex 6mmbr build. I did a few hundred kms of driving and found a set of rings that would drop my scope .200 giving me .100 clearance vs the .300 I had.

Brand new Leupold mark 4 with a price tag of $192 plus tax. Not exactly cheap but the build is worth it. A few hundred more kms drive home to do the install.

Get home and realize there is no torx key with the rings. Not a issue as I have plenty (But still annoying for the price). Pull scope off, pull old rings. Put first new Leupold mark 4 ring on.

The first ring will not tighten to the action. Keep in mind this is a Defiance Deviant action and no piece of junk. I checked the second ring and it seems fine.

I got out the calipers to find that when both rings are closed to max, off the gun, one is .015 larger. While .015 doesn't sound like much it makes that ring wobble on my action.

After further inspecting I could find some other disturbing machining.

Is this standard quality for Leupold stuff from their top lines? While I understand nothing is perfect, if I pay premium for something I expect it to be right. Something that cost 2-3 times more than others should have 2-3 times the quality control.

That's weird... I have a couple sets of those rings and they are both flawless. You'd think they'd be matched and checked for QC at the factory.

Package says wrench included....bottom of rings look different...packaging is not heat sealed.

Could there be someone out there that switched out their cheapos and returned the rings to store and you just happen to get them next?

Had this happen with car parts......new part in the box just a cheapo (anybrand) in it and the correct expensive part gone!!

Just a thought...store gave me a super hard time and I was the sucker!!

Sure don't seem to be a pair. Send 'em back. E-mail your photo and story to Leupold. Call Korth.

Yes for sure - send them back. I hate it when people open packaging and I really prefer sealed boxes. Having said that I now religiously root through unsealed packages at Home Depot before I buy anything -- far TOO many times I have not done this only to get home and discover that some axxhat has stolen critical parts out of the box/package. What a piss off!

(You are not paranoid --take it back and dont let the bastards put you on the defensive; they are not going to reimburse your time or gas!)

Holy crap, that picture is comical. Don't need a precision instrument to see how far out the first ring is, haha. Obviously open package though, if the "included" torx wrench wasn't in there.

Anyways, I have 3 sets of Leupold PRW rings, and all three fit up perfect. I've been pretty impressed with the quality and consistency.

Normally I would not pay $200 for Leupold rings. This was a case of if I can find something today.. I wanted to break my gun in Saturday and set it up. I have rings but they were pretty high and of unknown manufacture. Buying from the store I could take my rings with me and find a set .200 shorter.

There is no issues with returns or anything like that (Other than the driving back part). If I was ordering rings they for sure would be a different brand. It seems different manufacturers love to rate hights differently making things a pain sometimes.

This was only a post to show that I should of brought my gun with me to test fit and saved a headache.

I'd be willing to type............thar bee nudder set owt there jest like this set, c'ept with two keys.

Man, that's gotta suck the big weenie.

Garbage $200 Leupold Rings

Misleading title since that package looks like someone swapped out a real Leupold ring for a cheap knock off. Leupold rings are machined from bar stock aluminum or steel and that appears to be made from cheap "white" metal. Plus anodizing wouldnt do that which real Leupold rings are.
