Garmin Xero, Beating a Dead Horse?

I've headed to Garmin too..so if anyone wantr a perfectly serviceable Labradar, I got one for cheap. Labradar works great, works better than any chrono device I had until Garmin. Garmin is just easier.

You can't control it from the app (like you can with the Labradar) so no point using it with a phone on the range.

I use it to pull data off the unit when I get home to free up the memory and/or send the files to myself

the nice thing about the Xero is when your Labradar shows “ acquisition error could not track projectile” you can set up the labradar at a 100 yards and shoot it with your rifle while the Garmin tracks the velocity
 
I have had mine for almost a year. I don’t do any load development without it! Simply awesome. I had the magnetospeed for years . Not even in the same ballpark
 
That will be my next purchase. I set-up my old chrony last week at the range, it's becoming a pain-in-the-ass. I just purchased a $2,200 spotting scope, therefore the Garmin will have to wait until Christmas.

Yes, one can just get velocities on the Garmin but it does have built in wifi hardware to allow connecting to other devices which can be tracked

Sure, the Garmin has the features that make it handy for folks that don't want to go with a Crony & tripod setup but I've used mine
for many years without worries. I don't need to spend $800.00 on a widget that I don't use often enough to justify the cost.

It's bluetooth, with a range of about 30 feet.

It only has Bluetooth so if someone is tracking you then look over your shoulder because they are very close.

But fair enough it’s still a spendy item. I do a fair amount of load development so shooting over a chrony isn’t feasible. Lining up the target and the chrony is a real PITA and not an option for most public ranges.

The amazing thing about the Garmin is how reliable it is. It’s literally never missed a single shot and I’ve tested everything I could think of. It’s leaps and bounds better than anything before it.
