I am shooting the 450 gr bullet barn bullets at +/- 1800 fps using RL 7. I will have to check my data to confirm the load. This is out a Marlin guide gun. Cheers Allan
I'm curious to what pressures you are running with this load.
Remember a Marlin will not show pressure signs on the case but maybe more than the rifle can safely handle.
Do not exceed 42,000 PSI in any 45-70 Marlin rifle...
I am not saying that your load is too high of pressure more along the lines of check it out and if you are pushing the envelope back off 1/2 to one grain of powder to be on the safe side.
Also if the cast bullets you are shooting are not gas checked then you may also be having lead build up which would work towards pressures peaking. These are hard bullets but leading is a problem with these kinds of velocities.
