Garrison Petawawa PR3 06-07 July 2019 Debrief here!!

Longboat and DanB.... Got the EMT for the Sunday match for 2 of you...

Redlight35, remind me of the names/ handles ....I can’t seem to see/find/visualize that EMT of yours....

Back home from Pukaskwa National Park 1000Km from home....I wore a bug jacket but still seemed to attract lots of bites on me.

Okay.... I have to close the registration.... waiting list only, I’m afraid. Looks to me like this match is getting super popular.....

Cheers, Barney

Okay, it’s time to support the Meaford Long Range Steel Challenge. Honestly, the best way to prepare yourself for this super tough match is to volunteer and learn.

The best way to describe the pace of learning at this match (my third one coming up as a volunteer) is “like drinking from a fire hose...”. I’m not joking. There is so much to see/hear/visualize!

Get into the game by volunteering and seeing it all from a STAFF perspective! Don’t just pay yer ?? $ 275?? And become like a deer looking into the headlights! Yes, that’s how many competitors appear when they first get there and they have NEVER shot my PR matches in Garrison Petawawa....

In 2017, these guys showed up from Toronto (of course) without a 100m zero (it was a new Cadex....I’m not joking) and have never heard of the ORA in Base Borden. Nor did they know there are a SERIES of PR Matches running monthly in Garrison Petawawa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Don’t be “Those Guys”....

They never showed back up in 2018!

Here’s the text from the MD’s of the MLRSC:

We are looking for ROs and range staff for the 2019 Meaford Long Range Steel challenge. We will provide all meals and lodging. Range staff also have the opportunity to win prizes set aside just for them. Training material and hands-on training will be provided. The match is September 6-8th. But we can always use the help setting up the week beforehand. If you are interested in being part of our match staff, please send an e-mail to kris@psoc.ca

Questions???

Sorry to bring the bad news to the new shooters but I’ve had to close the registrations/participants at 32 shooters / 8 target lanes because this situation can escalate into a shzt show down in the butts and turn into major headaches. Many of you love my brand because we don’t like shzt shows and crappy target presentations...

So I’ve had to cap things at 32 shooters...Sorry about that bad news.

Your thoughts??

Cheers, Barney

See how 32 does and go on from there. More may be possible in the future depending on who's going. Adding 4-8 more guys who know the drill and do not have to be "baby sat" would probobly not risk a shzt show. If its alot of new people then yeah, that may get tough on 1 officer in the butts.

At one of the Timmy’s just off base now. Will be checking into my cottage very soon. Hahahaha. Will be gathering at Quesada Burrito for 1830. There MIGHT be a group at Kelsey’s tonight. We will see is they chime in here.

Quesada Burrito is across from the KIA dealership on Petawawa Blvd

Cheers, Barney

Barney I am at work tonight ...drop by after and I will give you the range standing orders that you need to read. I will have to be the RSO tomorrow unless you have read it by then.

Yes we will meet at Quesada Burrito for 630 Pm or 1830. Getting hungry already.

Yes I will drop into the Fire Hall after grabbing dinner for some enlightened reading

It’s All Good!

It’s almost 31 Celsius here on base. I’m expecting similar warm temperatures tomorrow. All the smart shooters will bring more or spare or lots of extra water for tomorrow. If in doubt, bring more water.

Dehydration is not fun experience

Cheers, Barney

Thanks Barney and Morgan for a great match!

And thanks to the support team Heather, Howard and Scott for helping out!

Hope to see you all later this year.

“If you want to be great, be Grateful!!”

I have much to be thankful for!

* The Petawawa GC President, ChalkRiver2 because his insight, planning, tolerance makes it all come true
* Sentry Heather because her effort backstops all my efforts to bring you an effective program
* My butts officers , Scott and Howard, and their coach Shelldrake with his careful supervision/ inputs
* My great shooters who made strong efforts to improve their target presentation after gentle reminders...
* My rookie shooters/ butts workers who responded well to the suggestions from Howard and Scott. Thanks
* Shooter ML...even after scope/mount/base/ring/magazine issues, you recovered to score well at 600m...Bravo!
* Range Control patrollers who monitored the Heat Index (Extreme but not Extreme Plus) Thanks!
* My sponsors (too many to list) who free me up to do what I do best....tell jokes in the middle of the 300m Agony Snap
* The cooks at Normandy Mess hall- for the baked beans each morning, to test the discipline of the shooters on the line
* The shooters who said they can’t do math... you did it... thanks because I checked your math over. Not bad at all!
* The Technicians at Collingwood Toyota who keep me on the Road Trips... I am forever grateful
* Erik (Cover of Rolling Stone) for all those great images....

Folks,

Being grateful is the first key to remaining positive throughout the entire match and now your working lives. Positive thoughts are the building foundation for all / any high level of performance. Without positivity, you are fornicated and will remain in the Purgatory of Mediocrity!

In the middle of a match when you have to throw down (it’s a metaphor) now, ensure you switch on your super power of positivity. Use humour/music/happy memories/smiles to erase any/all/immediate negative thoughts in your mental domain!

I still use my Fat Boy Slim Rap music selection to throw me intro high performance mode! Use what works for you. Start with your playlist ...Find THAT one song you rewind / play most frequently. Stick with it! Now play it a dozen times. Now dance/rock/work to it!

Create all that positivity in your mental Hard Disk Drive (HDD)

Warmest thanks for the chance to serve you on the range!

Cheers, Barney
