So my buddy and I hit the indoor range (DVC) on Saturday morning.

Just around noon we walk into Wanstalls.

Place was packed. I make eye contact with Gary and we proceed to talk.

He shows me a couple of STIs and Nighthawks and the Sig Sauer 226R TacOPS. Just an awesome selection.

I let him know that I have a Norinco 1911, purchased through CanadaAMMO and that I was maybe looking to improve on it a bit...

He says gimme a couple of minutes. He comes back with the Bob Marvel guide rod and NightHawk leafspring upgrade. He says he should have some more internal parts coming soon.

Now why is Gary a lousy businessman? He should have done what another gun store did when I asked about improving my Norinco.

"You wanna put WHAT into a Norinco?" cue the eye roll

"Why bother, just get a REAL 1911..."

Instead of selling me $100 worth of parts (guide rod, recoil spring, leaf spring and WC magazine) he should have been selling me on getting a $1500 Sti or $3000 Nighthawk

OKOKOK... the sarcasm stops.

I just want to thank Gary for taking the time on VERY busy Saturday to answer my questions, help me find solutions and letting touch and feel all the wonderful toys he has...

BTW, I almost lost it when I walked in and was greeted by the Barrett M99 on the counter. I wanted to kiss it! (no, really)
 
You had me pretty pissed at you until the 2nd to last line. The flame thrower was on high. You should've save this one for April 1st.
 
Gary is a solid guy. Dealt with him a few times when I made some purchases through Wanstalls. Great customer service.
 
Their reputation precedes them. The word is definitely out that these guys have great products and customer service to go with it. I imagine they'll be needing a bigger storefront sometime in the near future!
 
Haha I thought that was going in a different direction but in the end good story and he sounds like a great guy, maybe one day I will get a chance to visit!
 
They are the best in the lower mainland for sure. They are so nice I honestly will buy something if I stop in just to browse because I feel guilty for how good the service is.
 
I just made my first purchase from him last night. Waiting for the store to open back up on Tuesday so it can process and ship out. I can't wait!
 
gary is a good guy, I went in one day for a box of 30-06 ammo and walked out with a mav88 when I noticed it there, I told him wanstalls had theirs on sale and asked him he would price match it, after looking it up online and confirming the price I was a proud owner of a new maverick 88.

Yeah I have to save about another $500 and he will be getting my money for the Piston version of the Core 15 for $1799.00. Just have to sell one of my rifles and It will be mine. Look forward to dealing with you guys.
 
man, I just about reamed you out, even with how much of a noob I am on this site when I read the first post, until of course, I came to the part where you admitted to being sarcastic! Thinking, this is the exact opposite of a bad businessman! lol
 
Its always busy in their shop no matter what day of the week...I'm in there once a week to check out the racks...Picked up a nice Ross M10 in original military configuration last week...Those guys are SO good at emptying my wallet..:)

Thanks dude! I just know we got a large number of "Wanstalloholics" here on CGN (myself included) and they are always ready to defend their favourite "Fun" Store!
 
Never met Gary face to face, phone and email, he is a man of is word and a gentleman, he his important to us... JP.
