So I purchased a 22lr upper from questar (pic below) and have since bought a NC Star folding gas block height front sight. This sight works but not to the level I want it to. It wiggles on the gas block. I want to take the rifle back to a classic look. I have found a ton of rail height front sights that would be nice but as stated they are rail height not gas block height. my criteria for classic look is for the sight to not fold down. I was thinking about buying one of the rail height front sights and putting that on a 1/2 inch picatinny rail riser. my worry is that this will not work. I put the question to CGN to see if anyone can shed more light on how I can make this work.

would buying a a2 front sight post be easier and where would I find one? I have only seen 1 pop up on EE and my bank does not do EMT yet so that is almost certainly out of the question.

On a side note this is a great upper and it has saved me a lot of money.

I hope this is it cause I just bought it

Midwest Industries makes a Gas-Block that is level with the rail on the upper-receiver; it is the only gas block that I am aware of that is on the exact same plane.

You could then buy the Troy fixed front sight for a classic look.

Both parts can be ordered from Brownells. I've done what you are wanting to do.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
