gas checks for rifle loads

just got a quick question , is it necessary to use a gas check for jacketed rounds im going to load some .308 winchester and im using jacket bullets do i need to use a gas check also ( never loaded rifle rounds before only handgun rounds ) thank you in advance

Gas checks are for cast bullets with a heeled base. Whole 'nuther topic.
