cast shooting is a riot!
and the velocity limits you hear about are not that bad.
On average, with Straight Wheel weight alloy and a little tin added will shoot into the 1500-1900fps range no problem.
With Aluminum Gaschecks, the accuracy from my .308Win starts to deteriorate around 1900fps.
Most of these loads are with faster powders like IMR SR4759,RL7,IMR4198,etc.
These loads at this velocity level never leaded my barrel appreciably. I could shoot 50-75 rounds without any noticable change in accuracy, Average Velocity, Standard Deviation and Extream Spread.
My Loads with Hornady "COPPER" Gaschecks and the 311299 bullet can reach up much faster if all is good with your load combination. Copper just has a higher yield strength to pressure.
Twist rate seems to govern velocity potential with cast bullets before they start loosing accuracy.
My 1:12" .308 gets higher velocities (with good accuracy)than my 1:10" .308.
I have reached 2425fps+ with 2.5" groups at 200yards.(IMR 4350 & IMR4831) For about 10 rounds. then I clean my bore. It doesnt seem to be leading, but the accuracy just starts to fall off.
This is a great hunting load! Hits hard!

I seated the bullets just into the rifling to aid in alignment. You should have sufficient magazine length to do the same.
If you want more info on my load/techniques etc,just P.M. me. There is ALLOT of things to consider with good cast bullet shooting. What works for me "may" not for others. But its a place to start.
