Hey folks, trying to get this figured out as I have some options to buy a barrel.
I want to know if I can use all the parts from my carbine length AR and buy an adjustable gas block, tube and assemble with a legal length barrel. That is 18” right?
If not I need some recommendations for buffer/spring, etc
I want to be able to keep my collapsible stock so the kids can shoot it.
Thanks!

need a 18.6 to be NR ,so 18 no good .A few sponsors have/or had 18.6 with carbine length gas system port .Not sure as to how they will work for you parts ,but just try it and you will know if too much or not enough
I am still new to this by the way and when I asked that same question that was the answer from a few retailers of products

Update
I purchased a maple ridge armoury SS fluted 18.6” barrel.
The rifle was short stroking with the Carbine parts. I then ordered a rifle length buffer and spring.
Next problem, how to keep the collapsible stock. So what I did there was buy another stock tube, cut it, and weld in a aluminum piece to make the required length of about 10”. The rifle still was short stroking, so I had a good look at the gas port. It appears that it was not drilled all the way through at full size. So I did that but yet to try it...I’m hoping this is it.

That’s not good QC. Sad.

I’m still in the r and d phase
It was 3/32” .0938
I drilled to #39 .0995
Yet to try it
I’ll update as I work through this

***update
So I ended up with #35 .110”
It should be noted that during all of this I had a variety of ammo so I could try between hotter and not so hot ammo and see the difference of improvement.
Also, I had complete rifle length tube, buffer, and spring and also changed between the carbine parts for troubleshooting.
Also, I tried both recoil assemblies with the weights taken out of the buffers.
I have no idea why but it runs perfect with the carbine parts with the rifle length port.
Keep in mind 18.6” is oddball, the rifle length parts were designed for 20” barrels.
In the end, I feel that drilling was the only way, or a lighter/shorter spring.
I reached out to MRA and the feeling I got was they’re just punching parts out with no real experience in assembly r&d.
Anyway, just so far the rifle seems great, I need to get rid of the 1-4 scope and get something better.
If you’re reading this and want more info I’ll help you out if I can just pm me.

A rifle buffer system is usually very tolerant of gas issues, and a rifle length gas system is the most forgiving too... are you sure the gas block isn’t leaking or something? .110 is relatively big. Shooting really light loads maybe?
