Gas piston help

i picked up a 2009 factory shorty the other day ( m305 )

and while cleaning it down i noticed that the gas piston doesnt slide freely in the cylinder .. it doesnt take much force to move it, but its sticky

ive totally degreased the cylinder .

what can i do to fix this ? im having troble identifying where its sticking, whether its the D-shaft that stick outs the end of the cly, or the round chromed part of the piston


i fear it could cause cycling issues ?

and in hindsight, a fellow at the range the other day with a 2009 norc was having trouble with his taking rounds from battery, it was cycling enough to eject, but not pick up a new round

any help would be much appreciated

My guess is that it will wear itself smooth. You could disassemble and rub the piston down with some jeweller's rouge, but I wouldn't bother.

Is the other fellow shooting factory ammo?

Put about a hundred rounds through it! I'm serious! Just need to be shot. My Poly M14 has that same "Sticktion" effect. Nice and tight fit for the piston inside the gas cylinder walls. What's not to like?
