Gas piston removal from M305 shorty

I do believe your gonna have to remove the flash suppresor. The FS is probably spot welded but there are plenty of threads on here to show ya how to do that. BFH,brass drift and beat the crap out of it basically. Lots of guys have done it, taint that hard.
Might as well do it now cos your gonna have to do it sooner or later....
Thats my 2 cents ....but if anyone knows different..........

Yup, its either that or cut off the bayonet lug. Its not that hard to get the flashhider off, if your interested in coming out to chilliwack I could help ya get it done.

strip the stock from the action, take out the gas plug, and undo the collar- then swing the cylinder out of the way off to the right or left- you may not have to take the stock off to do it- the flash hider NEED NOT come off - the collar is what holds the gas cylinder in place- once that's loose, you can swing the assembly off to the right or left to clear the lug- i'm talking about everything from the stock forward to the front sight- just behind the gas plug is the threaded collar- undo that, and the whole assembly pushes forward, then you can swing it right or left

Good one :) It pays to get a second opinion eh. Thats the way I'd go, saves a lot of heartache if you crack the FS.

well, if you think about it, there's been more than a few sold and not everybody has taken a grinder or taken off the flash hider- so what's their secret?very few have admitted to this procedure- and don't you think a RESPONSIBLE dealer like can-am WOULD HAVE SEEN THIS DIFFICULTY and ground off the lug if it was THAT necessary?

There have been a number of threads on this exact "problem" including some with actual pictures. And besides, half the people don't want the gun as much as they want the gun WITH a bayonet. You just don't look as fierce in front of the bedroom mirror if you don't have a bayo on it (even if it doesn't fit properly:D)
