Gas System Unitising in Vancouver Area

shimming and unitizing are two different things accomplishing two different tasks.
and as far as i know, there isn't anyone to send it to other than my buddy tony who has tig unitized a few hundred GI and chinese gas assemblies.
i'll call and ask him if he'll help you out. ya never know, he's a big supporter of cgn's m14 community and i'm sure that doesn't end just cuz i closed my shop doors.
if he's game, i'll get you his contact info.

Many thanks Doc!

I'll talk to him and might be able to arrange for you guys to have a "unitizing night" , but i can't speak for Tony and he's 5 1/2 hours drivin from my place hehehe.
he doesn't do the internet but I'll look into it
i don't want to start a stampede or be seen as soliciting so if it's okay with mods/admin , and they don't lock this hehehe I guess we can organize thru this thread. As a disclaimer, i will have zero involvement (financially) with this other than to middle man for you guys thru this thread ;)

so if you are in the lowermainland and need your gas system unitized.... and can't wait for the epic 4 day clinic up at my place where tony will be on hand......... post here, I'll gather names, and see if i can hook you guys up ;)

sound okay?

Why not just Dlask arms I'm sure Joe would be able to do it if he's not still crazy busy building AR 15 for the US.

I hope I did not discourage him last clinic after he welded my gas cylinder so perfectly... I yelled at him (and the rest of them)..

"Put down your purse and rack that M14 like a MAN!"

joe is a machinist and gunsmith....... not a master tig welder. i don't think i've ever seen a tig welder in joe's shop.
tony has 35 years behind welders and close to that many years behind a tig welder , he is a master and undoubtedly the most experienced guy when it comes to doing NM unitizing to m14 gas cylinders. i checked my log book and he's done 293 unitizing jobs just for me alone and probably a hundred more at clinics over the past 4 years.
if he's willing to assist you folks, i would just be happy and take advantage of it ;)

Can someone post a pic of a tig welded gas system would like to see what it looks like as i am a welder myself and have a m14 haha

Hey 45ACPKING, seeing as there are so many of us m14 lovers down here in the lower mainland, have you ever done/considered/thought about doing a clinic down here? Id love to attend one and July is kinda a bad time to get away from work for me.

I started doing m14 clinics in my house back in 2007/2008 when I still lived in the LMZ (surrey). Clinics were on a near monthly basis, a great many gunnutz attended those events. Starting in 2009 , when I hung up this user name to take on the M14Doctor moniker, clinics continued at a fairly regular basis until I moved to 100 mile house 2.5 years ago.
Have done a couple LMZ , port alberni and 2 100 mile clinics since the move.
For a full clinic thing, I'm going to put my efforts into growing the JULY 4 day M14 clinic into a major M14 event that will get bigger and bigger every year ;)

Anyhow, if a group of guys wants me to ask tony to reserve an evening where you can drop in and have your gas system unitized, on purpose built unitizing jig by a true professional.... Let me know. Tony isn't a gunsmith, he's a gas fitter among other things.

oh..... and for what it's worth...... both Tony and his son anthony are Hungry certified unitizing experts LOL :D :D

Tony is the best welder I know. Seen him weld in a variety styles (mig, Tig etc) and applications (firearms, cars, thin sheet). I have also personally seen him do dozens of unitizing jobs and I definitely give him both of my thumbs WAY up! Also a hell of a nice guy. Don't hesitate if his unitizing is offered to you.

On the phone with him right now but he wishes to be know on the interweb as Tony Tiggs :p

I'm glad to hear that you've not abandoned us yet.
My financial controller says attending this year is not on the cards, glad to hear that there will be a next year.

i'm try to arrange a massive chunk of private land for future events. I know a guy with enough property and outstanding back drop for a range but some hoops will need to be jumped thru in the future to make that a reality.
this year will be room for 25 at my place, which is "much" improved over last year ;) quading, dirt biking, hiking.... little bit of fishin maybe..... right out the back yard ;) perfect for hosting this years event ;) more details on that in the events and gatherings forum and we're now confirmed over 1/2 full

as for tony....... crack feather..... how do you know tony LOL , are you the guy from the smoked bacon place?? ??
he's been poundin hours on a job and workin late so i'll try him again tonite.
