Gatehouse has a lever gun...

The 45 colt is an outdated has been the 44 magnum is where its at. Sort of like the outdated 375 H and H, replaced by the modern and therefore better 375 Wooger. :p

I think the 45 colt can be loaded past the 44MAg in power these days, if you are using a modern firearm and modern brass. That's what all the gun writers say, anyway;)

Pppppfffttt......edumacate yourself young grasshopper!:p

It can achieve the same power at lower pressure than the .44, and loaded at higher pressures surpass the .44, plus your doing it all with a wider bullet. The .44 is magnum in name only, .45 is where it's at!:D

The 44 mag won't even come close to the potential of the modern loaded colt, actually the colt can be loaded to equall the 454 casull. In a trapper the 300 grain can easily be loaded to about 1700fps. If you have a trapper in .45colt you have no need for a .375 Ruger:p

You've been reading the wrong magazines and have made a terrible mistake. Send me that 45 Colt right now and I'll buy you a new Norinco in 44 magnum.

Not that easy,you scammer!;)

I've read about the 45 Colt being "modernized" for years, probably starting wiht a piece by Ross Seyfried in about 1995, and a few Brian Pearce articles thrown in, too. I've got a 45 Colt Ruger revolver, had it for awhile, too. I'm not abig nostalgia guy, but I like thwe 45 colt, since all the cowboys used it in the movies!:p

I've also got a Winchester 1894 Trapper in .45 Colt. I love mine. You couldn't get a handier rifle as a companion gun. I've been loading mine with 300 grain cast bullets from The Bullet Barn and H-110 based on load data from Brian Pearce. I'd also like to try out Lee's 300 mould but I haven't done so yet. At any rate, a stout load of H-110 has been giving me a little over 1600 fps. It may not sound that impressive to some but it compares favourably with the old buffalo rifles of the late 1800s.

If I recall correctly, Eagleye here on CGN developed some pretty beefy .45 Colt loads for his lever action as well.

Norinco makes a 44 Mag lever rifle?

Details please! :)

My scam has been revealed. :( They don't make a 44mag but they do make a lever 12 guage. ;)

All bs aside the 45 colt is probably the better cartridge over the 44 mag. I ended up getting a good deal on a Ruger SBH in 44 mag so when it was time to scratch the lever gun match the wheel gun itch, I went with a Marlin sporter in 44 mag. ..
