S.84(1) defines an automatic firearm as:

“automatic firearm” means a firearm that is capable of, or assembled or designed and manufactured with the capability of, discharging projectiles in rapid succession during one pressure of the trigger;

then defines prohibited firearm as:

“prohibited firearm” means

(c) an automatic firearm, whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger, or


So what if you design a firearm where the discharge of multiple projectiles isn't with one pressure of the trigger. Perhaps its the spinning of a crank, like a gatling gun?
 
Gatling, Hotchkiss, Nordenfeldt, Gardner are all prohib. The crank is deemed to be the trigger, and one continuing pressure fires more than one shot.
That's the current interpretation.
 
Ok, then how about if it fires one shot with one depression of the trigger, but goes full auto if pressed twice in rapid succession and held down? Easy with electronics.

You are correct. Full auto trigger assemblies, or mechanisms that can be attached to a trigger that can enable rapid succession of firing is how it is worded (loosely) in the criminal code.
Legal issues aside I would bet that the novelty of this thing would wear off quickly.

So because I can tape my finger to the trigger does that make them all prohibited...

They should build a version of this that you can just grab two pistol grips, one in each hand, and fire off both triggers with both hands. It would be faster than that hokey crank and would be completely legal - (unrestricted too!). Basically all it would be is two 10/22s mounted side by side - while looking cool.
