A buddy of mine tried Gatorade last week on a snowmobile trip and said he found it really rejuvenated him way better than water. Does anyone here use it when hunting and does it really help your endurance?

I keep some in the fridge all year. I will take it over a water bottle any day. I always have a bottle on a hike, during any season. Is it better for me then water? Not likely, but I like to have something with taste and it does seem to perk me up a little. Maybe it's placebo effect, but I don't care. I like the taste.

Gatorade has a lot of sugar in it. If you are not sweating/doing strenuous activity/dehydrated avoid it. There is also G2 with reduced sugar.
It is important to hydrate with Water as well. Just drinking Gatorade is not good.
2 Bottles of water to 1 bottle Gatorade is a good ratio.

Personally I prefer BioSteel.

I love Gatorade, but it does not replace water at all. It also has a high sodium content, so keep that in mind.

One thing to consider the convenience store bought premix stuff is mixed to taste palatable while sitting in the car, drinking it as a casual drink.

Get a an of the powder and mix it to the directions, taste it and adjust to your preferences. While doing strenuous exercise (road bike racing) I can't stomach premix, it's too sweet, drinking it around the house I like the taste, but out on the bike I cut it 50% with water. Powder I mix almost to directions and its fine.

If you are drinking Gatorade or any of the other drinks of that type, to keep rejuvenated etc, you need to drink it about an hour before the strenuous exercise for it to help balance your electrolytes, etc. During exercise drink water to keep hydrated. Drinking it while you are exercising has no effect during your exercising, it is just throwing your money away.

Two bottles of water to another bottle of water is also a good ratio.

Would do nothing for your buddy. Its for strenous physical activity where you sweat so much you need to replace salt and electrolytes. I would rather drink water on hunting trips

Sledding trips can be very strenuous and dehydrating, depending on the type of slededing you are doing. Hunting can be a walk in the park or a world class workout. When I sheep hunt I drink gatorade at the end of each day to rehydrate. You need the electrolytes and soduim. It helps you rehydrate better than water if you have done a heavy workout. My understanding is, if you are electrolyte and sodium depleted from a hard workout your body can't absorb water effectively and distribute it until you get your levels back up.

I also recommend Clif Shot Bloks, they are essentially energy drinks condensed into jello form, you eat them and drink some water. To me at least they taste great, and when used as directed they really seem to help. I usually have a handful in my snack sack.

There are also the original Shot packets, which are more liquid, but I don't like those as much for some reason.
