Hey Folks,

Being Red Rifle owners, some of you might have seen and probably contributed to the thread about getting a CZ/VZ in .308/7.62x51. It would seem since the reclassification of the 858 a damper has been put on all VZ/CZ variants aside from Wolverine's 958.

Here is my proposal;

CGN is nothing but a collection of people with the largest knowledge of firearms in the country. There are people on CGN with skills ranging from CAD design to Manufacturing to Marketing and Communications. Why don't we band together and do something meaningful. How many ideas do people have out there for firearms and products to bring to the Canadian market? I know I have a few myself, but we don't do anything about it because we might not have that particular skill, or enough capital to do it. I realize it takes a lot to manufacture a firearm from scratch, but if we want our market to expand, if we want our selections to expand, we need to take it upon ourselves and not rely on a manufacturer to do something.

What I am proposing is we form a team of people with skills to develop our own, CGN rifle. Yes we have Type 97s, CZs, VZs, XCRs, ACRs and what not, but what we are lacking is Canadian Rifles. Alberta Tactical is a company that we all should be proud of, going after something not a lot of companies do. There are a few others that are definitely great examples of Canadian ingenuity.

What would we need to develop our own .308/7.62x51 VZ patterned rifle?

We would need:
Designers
Prototypers
Manufacturers
Testers
Marketing and Communications People

Most of all we would need money. I would be willing to contribute funds to develop the rifle as well as market it.

I'm just spitballing here and hoping to maybe jumpstart some people into action.

well you know with the right people and the money and the tool it could be possible but at the end is how long the ####ing firearms lab will take before they put it NR

i have a few skill that could be needed

to really make a vz in .308 it could be not be that hard you just have to make a longer receiver , adapt the bolt face and adapt a new piston / gaz hole , the hardest parts would be $$$$ it always comeback to that

I thought there was , someone on here that was building vz/cz recivers....already??
But I too would be interested.
Cheers
Brian
NOT as hard to build , as a lot of people would make you think.....after all, you never reinvent the wheel.....they just add new rubber. :)

Funny enough when I thought of this idea I automatically thought of your CAD skills I have seen in your SKS threads! haha
