Spoke with my club President and he is open to anyone organizing a shoot.

I have done some reading and saw the NRL22 series, the CPRS etc and this type of shooting looks fun. I don't mind organizing something but because we can't shoot steel, we will need to buy reactive self healing target and these are expensive.

So in order for me to come up with a plan, i need to gauge interest for this. I will post a notice at my club to see if I can get people who would be interested.

The shoot I have in mind is as follows:

Station 1: 10 rds in 2 mins, 1 pt per hit, 2 inch target at 60m (one pt per hit) ( 2 rounds prone - 2 rounds sitting, - 2 rounds kneeling, 2 rounds standing, 2 round prone) - rest and sling authorized

Station 2: 10 rds in 2 mins, 1 pt per hit, 2 inch target at 40m , 3inch at 80m, 4 inch at 120m - prone, one round fired at each target starting in sequence as follows: 80, 120, 40 - rest and sling authorized

Station 3: 10 rds in 2 mins, 1 pt per hit, 3 inch target at 100m, 5 rds resting rifle on step ladder and 5 rds with feet off the ground (shoot from the ladder)

Station 4: 10 rds in 2 mins, 1 pt per hit, 2 inch target at 35m and 4 inch at 110m - 2 rds at each target, switching after two, siting with bench

Station 5: 10 rds in 2 mins, 1 pt per hit, three target at 125m (2,3,4 inch) pick your target (2 inch = 10pts, 3 inch = 6 pts, 4 inch = 3 pts) - any posn

So do do this event I need get 11 reactive target from this site:
http://http://www.newboldtargets.com/hanging-targets/round-hanging-targets/2-hangtuff-series-round-elastimax-self-sealing-reactive-target-

With target and some wood structure to hang them I figure my cost would be in $250 range.

40 shooters at $15 each would net $600 leaving me with $350 for prizes and other supplies.

I would go with three categories (only .22LR for now):

Cat 1 - Open class
Cat 2 - Iron sight (to include no magnification red dot)
Cat 3 - Junior (17 and under)

Two questions:

1. Are you interested in attending
2. Do you have any ideas for shoot (for example, when people arrive they donate 5 rounds of ammo, then each shooter is given 5 random rounds and we see who shoots the best group or get a cheap used .22Lr with open sight and get everyone to shoot a group with that rifle)

Look like the someone beat me to the punch.

Outlaw Rimfire Match ORPS - Miramichi Shooting Sports - Miramichi, New Brunswick is scheduled for 27 Jun.

Just signed up for it.

Why not shoot steel? Club rules?
Outlawrimfire.com has all a lot of info and can help you get a outlaw series going (if you can shoot steel)
Steel is very safe to shoot at if done properly and precautions such as shrouding (required in Ontario) my help put minds at ease
I started my own chapter of outlaws in Ontario and it’s been nothing but positive experience.
I’ve found this style of shooting to be popular and in demand for more clubs to host events. It’s cheap, fun , challenging, I’d encourage anyone who haven’t given it a try to find a club doing it and sign up for the next match

Those targets you posted a link to look like good targets, however they’re kind of big,
I’ve noticed from doing outlaw matches the target sized called out often seem small but aren’t necessarily depending on the shooting positions and props called out
In the stages.
I wonder if you could cut those targets down with a bandsaw maybe??
The price point looks nice!
