Gave A Ruger Precision Rifle in 243 Winchester, a try.

I don't have a RPR, but I loves my 243, and I have found R15 to be a really excellent performer.
BTW, those pictures show this rifle to have a much better finish than the ads do. did it come like that or did you work on it a bit? Also, many kudos on that shooting bench, I would love to have the plans for one of those!
congrats on the entire thing and thanks for the post!

That would be a great option. Luv to get a 243 with a 260Rem barrel option.

Did a little research, def. not as simple as DTA or XCR with loosen and tighten bolts.

So are folks plans to shot out the 243 (should be easy with hot load), then rebarrel to 260.

i don't plan to shoot mine out. I still have a 264 from 1970's that will put 3 shoots under a inch. Yes only 3 shoots its a sporter barrel and after 3 it's a branding iron. After 5 the 243 is not near as hot as the 264, just need to know limitations and keep it cool.

The finish on the rifle is factory.

I have made myself a few of these benches over the years. Big ones at first, then these smaller, and more portable versions.

This bench is surprisingly comfortable and stable!

The bench was made by taking a sheet of 3/4" plywood, cutting it in half and glueing and screwing the two halves together.
After the glue is set, I laid out the desired bench top dimensions on the laminated plywood, and cut the top out.

I cut 3 pieces of 1/4" X 4" x 4" plate steel. Drill 4, 5/16" holes (1 in each corner of the plate).

I took 3, 1-1/2 Schedule 80 black iron pipe caps, and cut the top at a 10 degree angle. I cut just enough off to be able to get an angle to the top of the cap.

I welded the cut pipe caps at an angle on the plate so that when the plates are bolted to the top, the legs will angle at a 45 degree angle to maximize the foot print dimensions.

I cut the three 1-1/2" black iron pipe legs at 30", and threaded one end.

I used hand rail along the bench edge to keep the bench debris (loose cases, etc.) from rolling off to the ground. The rail in the front also gives a nice little ledge to set the bipod feet against when putting preload on the legs.

As a final touch to the top surface, I laminated a piece of industrial rubber belting to the top. It gives the top a nice non slip surface texture, and hides the hold down bolts from the 3 leg plates. Thats a basic run down of the bench, hope that is helpful.

Nice!, I have the RPR in 243 also, going to try 105 amax and see what happens. It shoots 100gr Sierra spitzers quite nicely.
Dt did you install an ergo grip? Looks good.

Looks cool, just yesterday I was shooting buddies 6.5 creedmore RPR out to 900 yards. It was very nice to shoot.

Don't wait, get one. 308 rocks in this gun, you will not be disappointed.
