GBL...Bought it!

And I am very grateful you sold it to me! ;)

I liked it so much I bought a 1895GS and a 1895SS. I now find myself selling my other rifles to buy more 45-70's and other shoulder cannons that shoot .458

The big-bore bug bit me hard!

Glad you're loving it, I love the aesthetics of that rifle and couldn't bring myself to modify the lever to accommodate my "catcher mitt" hands. Better to sell it "unbubba'd" and buy something that fits me better, which the 86 Wins do. That rifle was in mint condition if my memory serves correctly, and although I only fired it about 40-50 shots it seems to me it shot the 405 gn jacketed very well at 100 mtrs.

They still had them listed even when they weren't in production.
New production is supposed to be coming since they retooled but is not yet available here from what I have been told.
I'll hold out for an original and just shoot my 1895SS and .444 til I find one.

I think it's only "bubba'd" if it's a poor job. Lots of big loop levers out there as aftermarket parts and DRC makes(made?) a nice one that wasn't big enough to drive a pickup through :p

Yes, unfortunately they never did update their web page through the whole process. There are currently lots of models that are on the website that are not being made. None of the CB models are being made right now. The only XLR model being made is the 30-30 and the 338XLR is supposed start production this summer some time. That is directly from Marlin.
And also no 444 or 450 marlin models right now.

They have said that they will be slowly bringing back all items on the web page starting with the 336XLR. That's why they haven't taken them off. I was at a local shop yesterday and handled an 1895SS with a 22" barrel and I'm happy to say it was the best remington made version I've seen yet. It had no visible defects at all. The front sight was straight, the wood to metal fit was very nice(as nice as my JM guns), and the action was buttery smooth out of the box! Even my JM guns were a little rough and needed a little de-burr job and polish. I think they really have sorted out their issues and I am eagerly awaiting the 1895XLR to come back. I think it would the perfect version for me for hunting. And that way I can keep the Cowboy in mint condition ;)

I personally doubt the 450 Marlin will return, and the 444 is questionable. They sent out a batch of 308mxlr's back in November, last time I checked Epps still had a couple.
