Gear check for possible 3 gun run

For anyone who's wondering how to load fast from a $20 shell belt from Crappy Tire.

I've used a similar technique to this one.
About a billion times faster than a bag of loose shells.

That's not bad. That's also not a $20 shell belt from CT; look closely and you will see that the shells are not retained the same way - I guarantee that same guy using the CT belt will take twice as long as what that video shows.

At the risk of repeating myself, remember that since this is a thread about 3 gun, that $20 CT belt is going to have to be worn somewhere other than your waist. Also remember that during a 3 gun stage you are going to have to move around, maybe crouch, go prone, run, etc. so that belt is going to slip up or down when it has to be worn around your belly or chest.

That $20 CT belt is poor choice for 3gun, no question about it. The ONLY advantage it has over a loose bag of shells is that all of the shells are aligned in the same direction, a moderate improvement at best.

Yeah, it's a different brand. But the same technique works just fine. I've done it. Plenty of others have too.
Grabbing two shells at a time is quite easy. Just don't push them way down into the loops.

Here is a guy who has 12 loaded in the time it takes the belt guy to get his first 3 in.

You posted a video of the fastest shotgun loader/shooter in the entire world for comparison?
How is that relevant?

Wasn't posting that as a comparison, just as an example of what fast loading looks like. I had no idea that was the fastest loader/shooter in the world, I just googled quad loading and that video came up.

I'll take your word that your technique works just fine for you - of the hundreds of 3gun shooters I've RO'd or shot with, I've seen maybe 2 or 3 who've used something like that and it's honestly not much faster than the CPLS. Maybe you could post a video of how you wear your belt and how you load - that would help illustrate how you can make this $20 belt work so well because I just can't see it.

Everything is relative based on one's experience...
My first thought after reading the post "that's pretty fast" in response to the CT belt video was... No, it's not.
But... I can see how some people might think that was fast if they themselves are slower or have only ever witnessed slower shooters.

Sure... use whatever gear you like, but why hobble yourself and give up before you even start with the "I'm not in it to be competitive" mind set..?

Why bother at all then if you have no intention of even trying.?

If you decide you want to try out snowmobiling, are you going to go out and buy a $20 000 turboed hill climb rig right off the bat? or are you going to buy a used $5000 moderate sled, one that will just get you by until you decide how serious you want to get into the hobby ?

ITS A FREAKING $20 BELT ! $20 DOLLARS ! vs a $180 quad loader....

Honestly.

Even if I'm completely full of it. The guy has only invested $20.
And he can probably sell it to a hunting buddy for $15 when he's done with it.

I'm just trying to prevent him from using a bag of loose shells for his first match.

Do you honestly think Jesse Tischauser (the guy from the video you posted) would prefer a loose bag of shells over a shell-belt?

Obviously he would prefer his $500 loaders. But that's not the question here.

Don't get the crappy tire belt. If you still want it pay me $25 I'll ship you mine, because it's in a bin collecting dust. You have to pop out each shell one by one, unlike 2 being shown in that YouTube video.

Running fool (and others), what do you recommend for AR mag pouches? I need some for IPSc and eventually 3 gun matches but can't find anything online.

Shotgun caddies are all preference sadly enough
I practiced on invictus so my gear is all, but I bought it from a guy who started with invictus but moved towards carbon arms

Best if you can give them a try from someone in your area. Since they aren't cheap. My latest invictus purchase was $180 for a 12shell holder. Tho select shooting supplies has super cheap 12q that you can do quad or twins on

Yeah I was considering

Invictus Practical 12Q $135
or
Carbon Arms SSL Pinwheel - SSLP10 (10 Rounds) $120

I'll probably need two though. One if I'm doing 3 gun, but two if I'm doing a normal shotgun match.

Edit: The alternative to the blade tech double ar mags ($60 holds two mags) that I were looking at were these fastmags ($35 holds one mag) and I would double them up. I don't know how well LAR mags would do in either one though. I'll likely put a little piece of foam at the bottom of each holder, to lift up the magazines a bit.

The Invictus 12Q is great as its super adjustable, but it does take up a lot of belt room

I would go to with the Bladetech as it uses Teklok to lock onto the belt versus the fastmag that uses mollie backing
If you aren't running a competition belt but instead a chest rig or battle belt you maybe better off with the fastmags

When you order the Invictus or Carbon arms make sure you don't forget the tekloks adapters

Mag tacos are awesome. And I don't know if you shoot bolt action rifles; the tacos also accept short and long action ai mags. The long action mags fit like crap, but they fit. Mag tacos fit ar mags, and the pistol tacos fit pretty much all pistol mags.

I guess if you want to throw $20 away, buy the ct belt. There is nothing worse than sucking because you have ####ty gear. I can twin and quad load, not as fast the dude in the vid a couple posts back, but I can do it. But once I got stuck on a long sg stage with a crappy ct style belt and my time was atrocious.

I have the invictus. Works great. I've heard good things about the pinwheels.

And I would avoid cheap semi auto sg's. I saw one fail today. Just run your Mossberg or Remington pump and save for a versamax, benelli, fn SLP, Beretta 1301 and etc
