The Double Alpha is stiffer than the CR Speed 2 piece belt, but once I've got them on, I don't really notice a difference between the two. Most people will run single mag pouches so they can angle each one to be easier to draw from. Have a look at the "bullet out" style. If I was starting over, I would probably go that route as it looks like a more natural angle for your hand as you draw the mag (especially from the back), and they take up less space on you belt so you can either carry more mags, or space them out more.

Any belt will do. Usually you want one that's at least 1.5" wide. I used a Blackhawk riggers belt for years before finally taking the plunge on a double belt system.
I bought one Ghost 360 mag to try out. They come with two pouches, one for regular bullets forward mounting and the other for bullets out. They are nice but one drawback is that the belt mount is wide and if you have 4 or 5 on the belt, you lose a lot of the velcro support. To fix that, most shooters stick on velcro on the belt mounts. I ended up going with DAA Racer (couldn't justify the Race Master series) pouches.
I've got 4x Racer pouches on a DAA competition belt set to bullets-out and canted slightly to allow easier draw. I've got one magnet as my first mag pouch for a total of 5 mags on my belt. I'm thinking, I should get another magnet for a Barney mag now that I think of it. The nice thing about the DAA pouches is that the mounting system is a single steel bar and when they're set to bullets out, they take up much less space, which helps when you wear a 34 belt.

Tell me more about these double belt systems. They don't seem that expensive... what are the advantages/disadvantages?
You use the inner belt which has the soft velcro loop part facing out. You can use it to hold up your pants until you get to the range. When there, you put on the outer belt which has the hook side of the velcro on the inside of the belt they lock up as a single belt. This way you don't have to rethread all your pouches and holster each time time you need to undo your belt. Your gear's layout will always in the same position everytime you're ready for dry-fire practice at home or live shoots at the range.
If you shoot different classes ie production, classic, standard, open, revolver etc. you can have multiple outer belts and changing your setup is as simply as swapping just the outer belt.

Rule 5.2.3: Unless otherwise specified in the written stage briefing, the belt carrying the holster and all allied equipment must be worn at waist level. The belt or the inner belt or both must be either permanently sewn at the waist, or secured with a minimum of three belt loops attached to shorts or trousers.

Does the double Alpha belt for $70 from MD Gardner include both the inside and outside, or is that just the outside price?

Obviously it needs to be one that goes on a belt, but there seems to be a few options with that, as follows: Belt, Roto, and Vario (adjusts for various belt sizes). (There is also a 5cm Police belt option, but the Double Alpha belt isn't that wide, right?)
Also, if anyone knows of a place to get a Fobus SP-11 thats not Amazon, I'd be interested in giving a smaller company my money...

Yes, all double belts are sold with the inner and outer belts. They just happen to sell extra inner belts too.
If the holster is intended for IPSC production, then get one that mounts with the gun as low as possible but still complies with the IPSC Competition Rulebook. Have a look at 5.2.5 and 5.2.7
Here's a pic of how to measure the 50mm. There was some confusion on that last year at a couple of the qualifiers at TMSA. The belt mounting you use will depend on your body shape, so pick one that will give you lots of room to get a good grip when you draw, and yet still meets the 50mm rule

As far as body shape goes, I am about 5'7", 155lbs, with a beer belly (aka dad bod. lol)
I want to get a holster that has some drop/offset, but there are only two holsters I know of that will for sure fit my gun (both by fobus) and I don't think either have that as an option (unless fobus sells a drop/offset mount that you can use with any of their holsters?)
Also, the problem is I kinda need to buy the holster (and a belt) before I can figure out how they fit on my hip.... I am assuming you can buy different mounting options by themselves without the rest of the holster? Where would I buy something like this?
I personally wouldn't recommend a paddle type holster. Have a look at DAA PDR or PDR Pro holsters or even Bladetech DOH holsters. You can check DoubleTap or some of the site sponsors for stock or you can order directly from Bladetech or DAA.
I found IPSC to be a fashion show, always lots of complaints, the wrong gun, wrong holster, you need to upgrade this or that. I found that rt he fashion was more important to most there then learning how to shoot. I could careless about how I looked but how I was shooting was the important thing.
Drop in to Tiger Arms and/or Wanstalls. They usually have a pretty wide selection of holsters in stock. You can bring your handgun in to try them out.
The gun I have is a bit of an oddball, and most companies don't make a holster for it, so I have to find a holster that it fits. As for buying a holster that costs hundreds of dollars, I think I'd rather spend $50, and figure out if IPSC is right for me or not first.
I would need a STATT to do that wouldn't I? I guess Tiger Arms can be argued to be otw to the range, but Wanstalls certainly isn't.
Is the Diamondback DB9 the same profile as the Springfield XDM/XD/HS2000? Seeing that that's what the Fobus SP11 fits...

Wanstalls has a firearms business license Ie your ltatt is valid to go to a gunsmith which wanstalls is.

Thats the db9, a compact 9mm. mine is the full-size version - dbfs9, or just fs9. And I don't know how close it is to the XD, other than Ganderite has a fs9 and it fits his sp-11 holster.
Ahh, ok. Probably best to take it into Wanstalls as someone mentioned above and test fit it with a few holsters.
