gearing up for 3gun

What kind of semi shotgun can hold 7?
I understand 5 in the tube + 1 in the chamber, but wheres the last one?

Also, no problem staying Canada side with my chicom stuff. I am not a very competition oriented guy, but I like IPSC because it changes the routine of shooting and thinking about 3gun for the same reason

Personally for the shotgun I'm a fan of the pump, bit harder on the shoulder but I think my 10 round tube give an advantage.

As for barrel length on a AR, I'm currently using my YHM 16" and have good results with it. On the other hand Alberta tactical rifle supply is putting a new upper together for me. 18" stainless with a side charge handle upper and can't decide between the miculek comp or one from JP.

This is the last match we shot at the Spruce Grove range. Can't wait for the weekend as we have another match on the 5th.

The hardest part so far has been trying to figure a setup that I can wear all day without having to add/remove pouches and still be able to find everything nice and quick. Think I have it figured but next match I'll probably think of something to change up. Another hard part is the amount of money you can dump into your rig.

the biggest problem with 3 gun is that there is no defined club for it like ipsc, idpa or uspa. in the states it is bassically a series of big (HUGE) "outlaw" matches that make their own classes and rules so it gets hard to pick a class to compete in throughout the "series" other than open, which is where you see most of the pros

18" barrel and rifle length gas system is personally what im going to go with building an AR for it

Not having a defined club isn't at all a problem... Its a benefit. It's probably "the" reason participation is so high. Match fees for these matches are $200-300 and they sell out in seconds. As far as rules go it's pretty standard... Between all the major "outlaw" matches I've shot , some more than once.. The rules have been common. I've always shot tactical optic at all the matches and have never had to switch out gear...
If you can read there's no problem adjusting match to match. And really, there isn't enough difference to get confused over.

I disagree, most three gun matches will have some sort of tac irons type division...its kinda like production or a stock division without optics.

I always shoot the same gear (for the most part) in any 3 gun match. Though I will be getting a semi shotgun soon enough

By the by, Team Hoser and EESA are looking to develop a common rule set (other clubs are welcome to participate) so that we may host events or 'series' of events that are comparable.

Really though, the primary goal in Ontario should be to grow the sport! Come out with whatever gear you've got and have some fun!

that's what ive been reading online about the 3 gun stuff in the states, but im sure many people would like a world champion ship or national championship match and a series of state championships like the pistol disciplines have. makes for a good circuit like a regular sport has, and helps make it "legitimate" in the public non shooter eyes.

The most "tactical" shotgun

The most "tactical" shotgun I have ever seen at a multigun match was actually a fudd gun. It looked something like this:

Before the match, everybody laughed. Afterward, only the fudd was laughing.Laugh2

That day, at least, it was the gun for the game.

This is already happening...

As part of each match the top shooters participate in a shoot off which leads to a big shootoff with a $50000 purse
It's as legit as any sport... At least in the US.

Nothin' wrong with that... The 3-gun I'm yakkin' about isn't about "tactical-ness" anyway.

It's about moving and shooting fast. Noone is shooting back so... you can leave your faux tactical warrior mind-set in your moms basement:D

I personally am really likeing the three gun movement in Canada so far.
No classifications,no limits, run what ya got. Lots of guys show up with bone stock pistol,Ar and shotty and out gun the high dollar rigs. Shooter skill prevails and everone has a great time.
I've had my backside handed to me a few times but always left smillin. If your not into it yet ya gotta give this sh*t a go

Starting to get into this 3-gun stuff a little bit myself... how are you guys running the 10-round LAR mags? I've though of a couple different ways and haven't decided what I want to do just yet. Do most prefer them coupled together so they fit regular pouches? Do you load only one side or both and do a 'flip' reload? I see some people are using ranger plates or something similar... what pouches are you using with these?

Thanks!
