I have a Gecado Model 75 .177 cal match air rifle. I tried firing it today for the first time in years. Using a Crossman .177 lead pellet, the first "shot" sounded normal but when I re-cocked it, I noticed that the pellet was still there. I re-cocked several times and tried firing but no joy. The owners manual says that "the washer of the breech block must be replaced if it gets damaged." The washer does appear to be quite compressed so I assume it is no longer sealing the breech. Does anybody know where I could get one of these washers?

I have a Gecado 45 and it was rebadged by Beeman ,RWS + Crosman. So check to see if the 75 has any other names/ clones. D+L Airgun in BC ,Chambers in the UK and where I got parts Umarex in the USA.........Harold

The breech seal will not be all that you will have to replace.
These guns are at the age where the synthetic piston seals have begun to disintegrate, and the behavior you describe is typical of a piston seal failure.
Continued cocking and firing the gun with the failed piston seal will result in metal on metal contact within the compression chamber, which will cause irreparable damage.

Your gun is in need of a complete tear-down, cleaning out of all the old factory lubes, and replacement of the Piston seal, the buffer, and the breech seal. On these Giss action guns, it is also advisable to replace the three mainsprings as well, since they are usually canted and fatigued from use.

A complete rebuild will not be inexpensive - but the gun is well worth putting the money into - they are an amazing airgun to shoot.

The guns manufactured by Mayer & Grammelspacher were marketed under a number of trade names/house brands - Diana, Gecado, Geco, Condor, Original, RWS, and a few others that escape me at the moment.

North Silva, in Toronto, ON imports and carries parts for the M&G airguns.
