Geissele Automatics King Hunter 7mm BackCountry. - UPDATE JAN 18 - Video Post 33

I stand by my original comment. I was referring to build offerings rather than a Cabela’s off the counter package special. You can get a rock solid action from one of many great manufacturers, any barrel of your choice (any contour/calibre), and an unlimited set of chassis options including carbon.

Also, this is GA’s first bolt action offering and many other high-end companies have done it longer (with regards to high quality components). This reminds me of the hype surrounding the DD Delta 5 prior to it’s release. It looked cool, but the price had people turning to building rifles at a similar price point. The tune changes slightly if GA offers other calibres. However, as of right now, this is meh at best.
A detailed judgement based entirely on supposition rather than fact. Oh well.

I mean, you’re going to be selling these, so that response is entirely predictable. Nonetheless ammo availability is certainly going to be an issue. Arguing the contrary is disingenuous at best.

Sure, but I'd say the same to anyone who passes hard judgement without fact, on any subject really. What will the issue with ammo availability be? Do you have some knowledge that Federal isn't making ammo for their new calibre? Not what I'm seeing.

I should add... the King Hunter has been announced. The actual launch will be at SHOT 2025, so come see it (and me!) if you're there. Federal is also starting shipping ammo this month.

Nope, just stating that north of the boarder anything “new” takes a fort night to get into the hands of the consumer. Demand is always fed in the U.S. before it ever makes it up here as you well know.

Ruger made Marlins are still a rarity up our way and they’ve been in production for years, only now are they turning up more regularly. Hell, even .410 was very difficult to find until recently. No, I’m not saying I know what the future holds and I never claimed that.

My initial argument was that for the price of this rifle in a “new” calibre, which will likely be difficulty to source, I think (YMMV) that you can build something better in a calibre that is more readily available. That is all, we can totally agree to disagree.

This thread is to soft announce a new rifle. If you want to discuss the new 7mm Backcountry calibre or offer why you personally don’t want a 7mm BC, there is a whole thread elsewhere on the site.

Soooo many people are completely ignorant to the new back country round. This is literally the first real improvement in the rifle cartridge industry since the 270 WCF and 7mm REM Mag were invented. So many dumb comments from people who haven’t even read up on the round. “Gonna cost a lot, gonna be impossible to reload, ammo supply will dry up, my 7mags better, more snake oil” no, no, no, no and no. High pressure rounds are going to be the future of rifle cartridges and our 3006s and 270 wsm’s will look like 7x57s and 38-55s in comparison. I’m super excited for what this will do.

Yes, yes, yes. I'll clean up this thread to separate fact from supposition in a bit.
