I have to vent because I feel like I just wasted $50. I had a moment of weakness and bought the Geissele LPK instead of the generic or DPMS for half the price. My thought process being that these guys are premium it’s only $50 more ($100 total) and I’m spending good coin on everything else etc. Ok everything for fine, no problem. But is it better than mil spec? I doubt it. Anyway that’s all I have to say. Everything fits and it was $50 extra. Reviews online are rife with people complaining about poor fit. So there’s probably nothing special for $50. It just reminds me of that time I bought a Hugo Boss shirt and the elbows popped out in a month, unlike my $20 Costco shirts that last years. Geiselle just grabs mil spec kits and slaps their name on it and charges $50 for it. That’s all.

I feel your pain man. I went through similar situations a few times before I smartened up after I first got interested in putting my own stuff together. There's only a handful of companies that really make most of the parts and everybody just bags it up and put their name on it. Then I got into the retro stuff where knowing where the parts are from is a big deal. The ar15 market is the most incestuous thing I've ever seen. I remember when you could get any part without a serial number on it over the border from Brownells. I miss those days.

Cheers

Frankly, I think Bill has diluted the Geissele brand recognition with all the absurd “super” branded items they’ve unveiled over the pst few years. Their rails and triggers are absolutely top notch, but I get the impression Bills trying his hardest to squeeze every nickel out of his name. The super Gucci optic mounts were where I first started questioning their value. Sure they’re great mounts but at twice the price of an ADM (ones I’ve never had issues with) am I really seeing any returns? Especially considering you’re in SPUHR country now.

Then it went on to all these random parts like, as you’ve noticed, LPK’s, trigger guards, safety kits etc. like what am I getting that’s any better then the average run of the mill stuff? Add in parts like the super duper 42 buffer kit that solves a problem no real shooter has ever had, a very hokey knife company and a “nanotech” coating company I still haven’t seen do anything in the industry, it just leaves me wondering wtf are you doing Bill? There was a time I looked at the Geissele brand and got the feeling that this was a quality brand that makes great triggers, amazing rails (atleast for the MK8 & MK4’s as I’ve heard the MK14-16’s are trash now) and other quality components but now with this extreme diversification it just comes off as “dollar store-ish” if that makes any sense.

Not to mention, with the ridiculous unveiling of yet another stupid coffee line, it just adds to the feeling. I’ve never been one to pay for a brand just because it’s a brand. If the quality isn’t there, or the extra cost doesn’t come with any measureable benefits I wont pay for it, and that’s exactly where I see Geissele now. Outside of their triggers, charging handles and mk4/MK8 rails I see nothing of value in the company anymore.

The only thing I’ll disagree with you on is that Geissele just slaps their name on milspec components or other manufacturers components. That is 100% what Noveske is now.

I agree they're nothing special, I just used 2 of them in builds but I bought from Brownells on sale for $32.99 usd each. I'm happy with that price but certainly no better then the dpms kits that ive used on other builds.

I don't understand. The GA standard milspec LPK is $67CAD. It's a good quality standard LPK. Not their bespoke Super Duty or Ultra Duty parts kits, which cost ~$100 more. At $67 it wouldn't be $50 more than a other brand standard LPK. A quick look sees it within $4-$5 dollars of other brands standard LPK. Did you pay $110+ for the GA Standard LPK?

To be fair their knives are actually half decent. Well made with useful designs. And that's coming from a knife maker who makes a higher end knife.

They are just trying to make money in the current over saturated market. So they might actually make a decent penny off cheaper items with a higher margin. Some of the stuff in the super dusty lpk are really nice but definitely a fashion thing more than anything.

Well put. Also their new scope is a joke.

Get the Armaspec kit 79$ our the Ergo Kit LPK for 89$ and comes with the Ergo pistol grip. Both come ambi selector and extended mag release and anti rotation pins.

Wait, to the OP, I want to ask, what exactly were you expecting from a mil spec LPK? Why did you pay extra for brand name?

He probably wanted a quality name behind the parts? For a few dollars more than the TNA (mil spec) kit, one can buy a high end LPK (Geissle, BCM, DD) that are all Schmidt & Schneider parts which are tried and true military LPK
