Geissele SSA trigger

So I ordered, received, and installed a Geissele SSA trigger in my Daniel Defense M4V5.

It's a nice feeling trigger, certainly less creepy than my standard trigger, and somewhat lighter, but I can honestly say it's not worth $300 to me. I understand it's designed as a combat trigger, but I feel as though my factory trigger is good enough and that $300 would have been better spent elsewhere.
I do happen to find this funny because I could not find a single negative review about the feel of Geissele triggers before I ordered mine.

I will be keeping the trigger because Geissele is known to be incredibly reliable, but in the future I will be ordering a more affordable option from ALG/etc, or just use the factory trigger so long as it's not a horrible one-off. The only other consideration would be to try one of the 3 gun specific triggers to see if they woo me some more

I replaced a stock LMT trigger, very nice Milspec trigger, with a Geissle SSA and can't disagree more... I have the LMT trigger installed in another rifle and have shot them side by side… after using the Giessle for about a year now, I would have trouble buying anything else… although I respect that the gains may not be as appreciable to you for the cost. Shot it… a lot… you might just change your mind.

Yeah, it'll be more of a delayed appreciation.

It's one of those things that doesn't seem like a bit deal now, but after about a year of using it and getting used to it, one day you'll try someone else's gun and absolutely loath the stock trigger.

That's how I feel these days. I got a SD-3G with a JP low power spring kit. It's 1.2lbs of butter, now that I'm used to it, a stock trigger feels like digging my finger thru' gravel.

I'll report back at some time in the future with my opinion for anyone who is considering one. I wish I had a tool to measure the trigger weight, I actually think my XCR trigger is very close in comparison and that's a factory piece

Looking forward to the report, try double taps/rapid fire, it should be very fast with this trigger.

You'll love it I'm sure. I have two of these (SSA-E and SD-3G) and can't say enough good things about Geissele.

I will be hitting up the range on Sunday for my initial firing review.

Also, don't get me wrong ... This trigger is very good overall, somewhat mushy break on the 2nd stage but it was designed like that on purpose. If my factory XCR trigger is a 8/10, this would be a 8.5, my other ARs with factory triggers would be a 6.5

Oh, and if anyone has an SSA-E, or a 3 gun specific, nearby I would love the opportunity to try it out, please PM me

No experience with the ssa but I have 2 ssa-e's and they are a night and day difference over factory triggers. I have a 2 stage LMT which is pretty good but it can't compare to the Geiselle.

The only difference between the two models is the flat trigger bow on the SSA-E. I find it makes a difference, but other may not feel a difference. Other than that, the take up, pull weight, break and reset are the same.

There's tax and shipping costs, I purchased it from Arms East.


Also the SSA-E has a curved bow, not a straight one

I paid $209 + GST for my SSA at The Calgary Shooting Centre a couple of months ago.

The SSA-E is designed to have a slightly lighter and crisper 2nd stage break (candy cane) when compared to the SSA break (carrot).

The SSA is not an ultra-light-breaking Match trigger, but it a BIG improvement over stock AR triggers. I hated my Norc CQ-A trigger. I am a happy camper with the SSA!

I found a slightly used High Speed NM 2-stage locally for $300.

Went out to the range and slung a few rounds today.

The trigger works well, no ftf or doubles, positive reset, and a clean break. Was sighting in my rds and I could definitely see my groups tighten when I switched lowers.

I think I would like to try one of the 3 gun specific triggers though, my factory triggers are not far off this one so its not a huge deal to me. I want something that feels like my m84 skorpion
