I am thinking of getting a Glock, an I am looking for reliability and versatility for target practice and SHTF scenario. I can get Glock 21 and 20 for almost the same price, but I read that 10mm ammo is hard to find. I like Glock 41 too due to it has higher velocity and easier to acquire the target to due longer barrel, but it is probably less concealable and I can't find the holster for it.

Which one do you think is the best one among ONLY those three, and the reason?

Thank you

No form of 45acp ammo is going to come close to 10mm ammo for velocity, whether it's a 5" barrel or 6" barrel.

10mm is definitely harder to come by, but if you can find some and don't mind reloading, there is no question that it is a superior cartridge to 45.

Go to the Ballistics 101 website, and see for yourself.

I understand that you can buy conversion barrel or kit for G21 to make it G20, but not the other way around. I see this as advantage of G21 over G20. I do mind reloading, so ammo availability is also important as well.

I picked up a 10mm 2 weeks ago. Still hasn't seen one rd of 10mm thru. My LGS ordered the last 3 boxes of Hornady XTPs from their suppliers and there is apparently no more for a while. Since you don't reload, I suggest get the Glock .45 . Ammo is common, plentiful and cheap compared to 10mm . If you get the 10mm and don't reload, you won't be shooting it much!

Why limit yourself? Get all three. Have you considered the 357 Sig? It is a very impressive round. I bought a 357 Sig barrel for my G22. One gun and two calibers.

Start with the 21, you will end up with all in the end. I started with the 17, now have 17, 19, 21, 2X22 and AA.22 conversion plus extra barrels and parts galore. Too much fun and reliability.

get the glock 41... it uses the same holsters as the glock 34/35

I have a gen3 21C it is much larger feeling in my hand compared to my Gen4 17, but I shoot it very well in comparison to the 17. They both fit my hand pretty good just different feel, the .45 has a nice punch to it but its not as snappy as the 9mm so I find it in some ways easy to shoot accurately, and I just love the sound and power of that round. The flames shooting out the top of the ports on the C model are pretty cool too :d

I have a G21 SF and the new G41 Gen 4. Although I do like the G41 I actually prefer the G21 SF. It is without a doubt the best shooting Glock that I have ever owned or shot.

Can you read the prices of .45 ammo? If $80 means anything to you, you won't shoot a .45 enough to find it a particularly useful item if you ever need it.

Someone who is an accomplished handgunner should put a thousand rounds through a new pistol before they give it any consideration at all for defensive use.
