Gen 4 Glock 20, 21, or 41

He's trying to say that shooting is expensive.

I thought this was common sense, if $80 hurts your wallet just wait till you have to buy .45 ammo...The last 1000 rounds I bought was $500 shipped....I can easily shoot that in 3 trips to the range or less

Can you read the prices of .45 ammo? If $80 means anything to you, you won't shoot a .45 enough to find it a particularly useful item if you ever need it.

Someone who is an accomplished handgunner should put a thousand rounds through a new pistol before they give it any consideration at all for defensive use.

I never said that $80 will hurt my wallet if you read my post again. I asked if $80 is worth the upgrade from G21 to G41.

You asked if it was worth $80. $80 therefore has a value to you that you suspect is similar to the difference between these two guns. That's what that question means.

If you think the upgrade might not be worth $80, then even though you think the longer slide is an advantage, you might not get it because $80 is more valuable to you than that advantage.

If you care about $80 on a pistol, don't get a .45, unless you're not really going to shoot it. If you're not going to shoot it, don't treat it like a SHTF item because that's not what it is. It's a toy you don't really use.

Let's not turn this thread to pissing contest again. That's not what the question means. You interpreted differently.
The question means simply what it is. Is the upgrade/diffrence between 21 and 41 worth $80. Nothing more nothing less.

worth is a funny question when your comparing a standard length pistol to a longer competition length pistol of the same caliber. I think only you could judge worth on a longer pistol. I went 21 because I wanted a standard length .45, that I have no intention to compete with or be precisely accurate with. I prefer standard length pistols, and I don't compete.... what do you prefer? To me its the same gun just longer/bigger so its not worth anymore for my simple range use

Pretty obvious you are the one confused but to simplify your life NO, it is not worth $80 difference specifically for you.

For a SHTF pistol the shorter G21 is more compact, but of course if you are Rick bashing walking deads the longer barrel probably better for bashing skulls :dancingbanana:

Is it worth $80 to whom?

To Bill Gates or to a guy who makes minimum wage?

Now do you understand what can be inferred from the question?

I'm here just to look for opinions really. Regardless of differences of wages, people can come up with educated conclusion why having longer barrel and slimmer slide not worth the $80. I guess I'm looking to hear opinions from people who had to make similar choices.

I understand that you can buy conversion barrel or kit for G21 to make it G20, but not the other way around. I see this as advantage of G21 over G20. I do mind reloading, so ammo availability is also important as well.

20 and 21 are identical except the 21 has a lighter slide. The slide on the 21 was lightened by milling out the inside slightly to compensate for the lower recoil of the 45 cartridge. I have no idea why a 21 barrel wouldn't work in a 20 slide. Would be nice to have a little heavier slide on the 45 since I run a 20 pound spring in mine and it runs very nicely.
If you don't handload then don't buy a 10mm, factory loads are basically the same as 40s&w yet cost more and are harder to find.

If I was buying one I would buy the 41, I have a 21SF and really enjoy shooting it, I also have a 10mm Storm Lake stainless conversion barrel and heavier springs on stainless guide rods for both the 10mm and the 45.
The longer sight radius and slimmer profile of the 41 appeal to me. As for concealment for SHTF or WROL, means nothing unless you have a few thousand rounds saved up and your 9mm would probably be a better choice.
No matter which one you choose I'm sure you will enjoy it. Glock pistols are all reliable and all are fairly accurate.

Thank you Cr5 for being a good and decent CGNer! This is one of the most educated and sensible responses on this thread. I appreciate the input.
