I fired 10 rnds of PMC 660grs from my brand new gen2 DA50 with ATRS lower yesterday. It's hard to chamber a round and it gets harder to extract the fired/empty casing. Some forum member indicated my chamber/chamber neck need some polish work done after seeing pics below. Anyone know any gunsmith provide chamber polishing around Edmonton area? There is also a line around neck area(you can feel it if you run your finger nail run it),if that normal?I am pretty sure that I can getting a gen2 da50 upper since it have longer handguard, non fluted barrel and no c-clip ring in bolt carrier but I could find any pic of "Improved caming index to assist with case extraction" .Can anyone help me out for Id the gen1 caming index vs gen 2 caming index?

I will get some AMAX 750grs for comparison next week since I only fired 1 brand of ammo through this 50bmg . Primer looked fine on fired casing and there is no sign of over pressure.

Can you post a photo of your receiver? Gen 1 vs Gen 2 is easily distinguishable with a photo as the Gen 2 has a slight angle to the path the bolt 'rides up on' when lifted after firing. (Not sure how to describe it, but that is your primary extraction on the Gen 2)

Cheers

The chamber looks a little rough which will cause hard extraction. Polishing the chamber should correct this, any decent smith should be able to correct that for you. I would contact Canada Ammo and see what they will do to correct this, it shouldn't have left in that condition. I can tell you from shooting my own DA50 Gen 2 that the primary extraction is better than my buddies Gen 1 but it is harder to extract spent casings than my McMillan is which has a more conventional action. But for 3 times the price of the DA50 as a complete rifle is worth, should be better.

Here is the pic of my upper receiver and I do see the slight angle. Please correct me if I was wrong.

I bought mine from GP tactical and I will contact Gary this afternoon. I was going for Cadex 50 bmg but the wait time throws me off the bus and I found this DA50 with ATRS lower from GP tactical! cant really go wrong with the price other than the chamber issue.(I bought a 50bmg rifle because of P&D 50bmg ammo sale lol)

Hey EDF339, need a better pic showing the area on the receiver where the forward face of your bolt handle would track along when you lift the bolt handle.

There will be a slight angle there which is your primary extraction...

All the rings imprinted on fired case shows chamber not polished just look at unfired brass there will not be any of those marks!

Thank you all the the great info/input! Canada ammo contacted me this morning(5amish their time) wit shipping label provided. I will update here once I have my upper back

My new da50 was unshootable. The chamber was a complete mess. My chamber was much worse than yours. I had to beat my bolt open with a block of wood. At first Canada ammo told me that I voided the warranty because I had an atrs lower on it, they finally agreed to rebarreled it for me. My brass was wrecked when I finally got the bolt open. I have been working on weapons for 18 years, everything from pistols to artillery and have never seen anything this bad as far as quality control goes. Good luck getting the chamber polished and don't forget to check the headspace on these rifles.

My DA 50 also had a rough chamber. Alberta Tactical polished the chamber while installing their lower. I haven,t shot the firearms yet. Poor quality control by the manufacturer of the barrels in my opinion.

Thats the new barrel. fails head space on three diffrent sets of gauges. These rifles are junk and so is the quality control. 2k right down the Sh%ter.Canada ammo should step up their game when it comes to quality control/customer service. I do this for a living and this is the worst quality control ive ever dealt with.

I hope they get that cleaned up for you and back in your hands soon! Hopefully it just needs a chamber polish to fix it up.

I bought mine about a year ago, and have a few hundred rounds through mine using an AR receiver, then got the ATRS lower fitted to it and it's got a few more hundred through it now. Very pleased with mine, it's lots of fun.

It's more common than you think. My first one had an unfinished chamber. I sent it back to Canada ammo. It came back with a new barrel and now has insufficient headspace and is unshootable.
