Gen2 DA 50BMG stiff bolt-opinions needed

They asked for all the bad barrels we had, obviously we do not have all of them.

If you can suggest a way to improve your experience, without having replacement barrels from the manufacturer, I am all ears

Perhaps you should buy the barrels for as many of us that have complained, replace them, and send the defective barrels back at that point? Or is there some magical way you expect our barrels to appear in the US for replacement? This is really starting to look like a Monty Python skit. It should not be up to us to sort this out, you sold them, we bought them, they are defective, you replace them. And keep in mind, most of us have a considerable $ in ammo, scopes, rails etc. so we are not that keen to return them and have them scrapped with no recourse. That would be bad...

We have a fairly simple case of bad barrels. The supplier is not supplying new barrels until they have sorted out the issue.

For those wanting immediate action, please email cs@CanadaAmmo.com and we will issue a return label and store them here until the new barrels arrive and keep you updated, as we do here, with the latest info

Thank you for your patience.

they went to far with the rougher and then couldn't clean it up with the finisher...stepped brass like that is a dead give away on the deal

Step one would be sourcing barrels from another supplier. This wait has surpassed ridiculous.

If Mossberg can't figure out how they screwed up some chambers in almost a year, I would be looking elsewhere in any case.

Seems that 50 BMG barrels with chamber issues are more common than I would have thought....

It would suck if the barrel in my rifle was a result of someone's attempt to correct a bad chamber.

Still hoping this will be resolved one day, with a new barrel that has a perfect and smooth chamber. With correct headspacing. Please.

These barrels are a incorrect run made for us in the USA.

Chamber Necks are short cut and will not chamber a .50 BMG round

Throats will need to be opened with a diamond hone or hardened reamer

Nitride finish

Good for Gunsmiths/Projects

Available in 32" and 26"

Sorry you guys are having these problems! Is there a issue with the design that would prevent a gunsmith from refacing the barrel shank then just running a chamber reamer down it to rechamber it properly? Has anyone taken their rifle to a gunsmith to look at? (I know they should be warranty fix, just curious what people may have done themselves to fix the problem and get shooting)

I was just starting to look into these when the RN-50 came out and was a little cheaper option. I went that route and they seem solid and well built if not a little on the light side for a fifty! but I can work with that problem, bad barrel that's not safe to shoot not so much!

Hope you guys get some answers and resolution soon.

guess im a lucky one of sorts, the chamber seem good just no pre extraction ramp, how they figured the 50 cal would extract with the pull of the handle blows me away, got 6 rounds thro and done with it

I do have a suggestion for a resolution from CanAm. Just my personal outlook. Stated here, for opinions or response. This may save CanAm shipping costs and logistic problems.

- Have new barrels manufactured (correctly) and fitted to a test upper (same as sold to customers) to ensure correct dimensions, then test fired at their facility as a "proof test".

- Offer a kit to the affected customers. Including a new barrel, go no-go gauges for headspace, a barrel nut wrench (with torque spec for the nut) and an aluminum bore rod to check for muzzle device concentricity.

- Ship the kit to the customer. Then allow the customer to fit the new barrel (or have a gunsmith do it).

- The customer would then ship their bad barrel back with the supplied tooling.

I for one, would even purchase the tooling sent with the new barrel to keep for future use.

Hey, I have read through all these posts today, a little to late might I say as a have just purchased a da50 upper from a fellow member, just wondering if there is any new information regarding the issue with these da50 barrels, has anyone been contacted by Canada ammo with an update recently

Crickets, they don’t seem to care. If they are still “working on it” they really should let us know.
Disappointed in Canada Ammo.

I had emailed Canada ammo for a status report on the timeline for replacing the barrels for the DA 50s with rough chambers. Canada Ammo stated that Mossberg had inspected defective barrels and replacement barrels are being made in the next several months.
