If I get a 9mm barrel for my G23 gen4 do I really need a G19 recoil spring assembly? Or would it still be reliable with original spring? Anyone tried it?

I did it on a Gen3 (barrel and mags only). It works but I would occasionally get a failure to eject.

In addition to barrel swap, if you want it to be 100% you need to swap the following:
Trigger Housing (9mm)
Recoil Spring (9mm)
Extractor LCI 9mm
Spring Load Bearing LCI 9mm

...and of course use 9mm magazines.

All that and it should be 100% reliable IMO :)

I want to be able to change calibers 'on the go' so I wouldn't replace all those parts, but if I'm changing the barrel recoil spring is being removed anyways. I'd rather get one if that means smooth shooting vs clearing jams.

Well, when you put it all together you'll see why failures rarely occur; the ejector on the 40S&W is contacting the very-edge of the 9mm brass.

However with that said, for cheap range plinking on the Go it is sweet (that was my intent as well). :)

I have a Lonewolf 9mm barrel for my G22. I just swap the barrels and thats it. I've shot over 1000 rounds of 9mm and I've only had issues with 1 box of Finochi ammo that wasn't crimped enough. They kept jamming on the feed ramp but I got 3 boxes for free from an RCMP buddy so I wasn't complaining.
