So I just have to ask and I already know the answer.. so I just happen to be browsing on Amazon and came across a utg leapers 6-24x56 scope and was rated 4.5 stars. Now I had to read the reviews and I was shocked people are actually using this scope on 308-300win guns and say they hold up!? As far as I'm concerned it's an air rifle or rim fire scope ,, maybe a 223 at the max but 30 cal... just wondering people's
Thoughts or experiences

I recently picked up a utg bug buster scope. Haven't mounted yet, initial quality seems good, glass is clear, solid piece for the price. Keep in mind most vortex, bushnell etc is made in china now too. The chinese can put out decent quality for the money.

UTG Leapers scopes are very popular with air gunners. The reason is that they can withstand the heavy two-way recoil from a spring piston rifle. Springers have destroyed more scopes than a lot of CF rifles. If you put a non airgun rated scope on a springer, don't expect it to last because the recoil will wreck it.

The recoil from heavy CF calibers is hard on any scope. But the Leapers scope will be more than up to the job on .22 center fire calibers and smaller .30's.

I've got a Bug Buster on my 10/22 takedown. Hundreds of rounds and no problems at all and it fits neatly in the bag.

Very nice little 10-22 you have !! So I decided to see what these scope where all about and went to the local gun store, the guy had a few different utg scopes and says he's sold plenty and never had anyone come back with issues. So I thought I would take a gamble,, I got a 4-16x50 I guess time will tell. I'm going to start by mounting it on my ar15, then after a few hundred rounds switch
It over to my m305 and see how it handles the 308. Just from Handling it it feels very decent quality and has very good clarity. I know there are a lot of guys that would probably say what a waist of money but.. I'm not going to war and if it does fail it's only
$200 but if it turns out to be decent heck that's a great deal.

Which gun store did you go to? I need a scope for my new cz 512 and would love to be able to check out a few of their other models. I had to order the bugbuster online sight unseen but sure wasn't disappointed when it came.

One line of the Vortex brand is made in China, the Crossfire.
Bushnell has a few....AR Optics, Legend, and the cheap no-name ones that come on package rifles.
Certainly not "most of them" are made in China. Philippines and Japan are where "most" of them are made.
An Elite 3-9x40 is made in Japan, durable and clear, and run about $220 new. Bushnell also has a 25% mail in rebate on right now as well.
