Hi guys

Im kind of a noob and was wondering, for an all purpose defense gun would you go with the 1300 defender, the 870 Express or a Mossberg 590. Input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

frankly I would go for th remington 7 shot 870 Express.... good gun for around $400

or the 870 Marine Magnum for $650

or the mossberg 590SP 20" for $500 ish

they are all good guns..... corlanes in dawson creek BC just got a shipment of winchester 1300 defenders and they look sweet, might get one to add to the collection :)

All purpose and defence don't really go together in my opinion.

The best all purpose would be a 12 gauge pump with 26" barrel.

Yep they're all good. Defender is lightest to hold and on the pocket book.;)

Try shooting trap or sporting clays with a 18-22" barrel. I still think a 26" barrel is the best "all around".

18", 20", and 22" are ideal, anything over is simply too much in my opinion... ;) (I have 26" bird guns, but would still prefer them to be 22")

I have and do. ;)

I find the 26"+ doesn't help me, though I realise some feel it "swings" better, sights better, etc. To each their own I suppose, but I shoot a 22" just as well as a 26 or 28", so I have a hard time justifying more barrel. Then again I'm no pro on clays nor try to be, just go out once and awhile.
