Hello,

I'm new to shotguns having only shot my first one a few weeks ago.

1. Does anyone have a link to a guide on how to shoot trap?

2. Is the Mossberg 500 an alright shotgun to start with?

3. What's a good brand to buy for bulk shotgun ammo?

Thanks

1. There are a bunch of videos on youtube if you look around for awhile

2. in my opinion mossbergs are like gambling. It will either last a life time or be the biggest piece of sh!t you ever buy. As far as trap shooting I am still learning this stuff but make sure you have at least a 26" barrel and I find full choke works best but the experts seem to say modified. Not that a 18" barrel with cylinder bore won't break clays but its a lot harder to do, trust me. I have also heard from the experts that you get best results if the gun fits you. Still tinkering with that but gun fit is not vital to success.

3. Just buy the cheapest stuff you can find. I usually go for challenger cause its the cheapest and its made in Canada. But federal, browning and Winchester have all worked fine for me. 80 for a case (10 boxes of 25) is the best I have ever found and is usually readily available

A 500 with a 26 inch barrel and interchangeable chokes will do fine for trap or keep an on eye the EE for a good used O/U.
There are a ton of videos on trap shooting that will show you the basics of mounting the gun and hold points.
Any cheap target ammo will suffice at the beginning no sense buying AAs , just makes the misses more expensive.
Stop at your local trap club and talk to.the shooters, most are quick to offer tips and advice and maybe even a gun to try.

I think that Mossberg will beat you up pretty good but maybe not. Don't get discouraged. Try out as many other guns as you can once you get shooting. Where will you be shooting at? The Vancouver Gun Club, Langley or ????

First off, it would be a good idea to ask this in the Skeet/Trap/Sporting Clay section, as this where the competitive clay shooters hang out.

To answer your questions,
1. look on youtube for Clay Coaches Online, Chris Batha has some good videos that will help.

2. Any shotgun capable of firing 2 shots and has at least a modified or tighter choke can be used to shoot trap. A Mossberg 500 with screw in chokes is suitable for the task.

3. Remington Gun Club, Federal Top Gun or Challenger or Score target loads are all up to the task.
