General warning Don't waste your money on a UTS 15!

Wolverine has generously sent their demo UTS-15 to Peace River for use in our Team 3 Gun Match this Saturday.

It should get a good workout from a wide variety of shooters.

I have enought faith in this gun that I am thinking of sending one on a non chaperoned road trip. I have not worked out the details yet but something along the lines of the following: We ship the gun to the first tester, he starts by reporting on the condition she in on arrival, then proceeds to shoot the hell out of her and report back here, the good, the bad and the ugly. He then cleans and lubricates her and ships to the next guy who repeats the process. Let's say max of 14 days per tester, idealy ship after 10 days so each tester would have her over a week end. The opening report will be very interesting as we see a lot of guns returned to us as faulty when in reality they have been abused through lack of routeine mainatance. So your cleaning and lubrication will be critiqued by the next tester! The tester provides the ammo, reports here and covers the cost of mailing to the next tester. After the report is made here and the gun arrives at the next tester we would issue a $100 store credit to the tester.

I would not limit this to only pro UTAS testers, I just ask for an honest appraisal.
Comments please.

A fellow on here by the name IamCanadianeh, did a video of one, the freaking welds broke on the gun that hold the barrel in place. No cleaning can prevent that. The thing seems like junk from all videos and reviews i have seen on it. Ill stick with my mossy's.

Edit: I hear they are offering free barrels as the ones breaking were welding incorrectly, but still that shows ya something in the first place. Guess they didnt test the gun very vigorous before they sent it to market, especially considering the price tag.

Well I just send my name in to John to see what this thing is all about. If this works out as advertised I will be bringing it for people to try out at Abby Fish and Game.

If you were to go here and read Mr. Wolverine's update on this you will see what the issue is
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/970068-UTS-15-Barrel-replacement
The barrel problem happened to the first batch we got. The shotguns before didn't have the problem and the ones since do not have the problem. All barrels for the first shotguns we brought in will be replaced.
Have you checked out the Hickok 45 videos? He is using a Turkish made gun and it works flawlessly.
The Nutnfancy and FPSrussia videos were done with US made shotguns. There are also many good non-video reviews out there on this shotgun and there are many happy customers with this shotgun, it does seem sometimes however that people will find the first bad review they come to, and that is that. Yes there were a couple of issues with the first ones that came in. UTAS and Wolverine Supplies have addressed the issues and the fixes are being applied to our customers shotguns as we speak. Also, the majority of issues that have come up aside from the barrels and tube selector have truly been user error not the shotgun.
I do find it curious that a car manufacturer can have a recalled of hundreds of thousands of cars and no one calls them junk, yet when it happens to a firearm, on a few guns, it is completely opposite, especially when the manufacturer of the firearm is making it right with the owners in a very fast and timely fashion.
The barrels for the shotguns are being made and serial numbered and will be shipped to us as soon as is possible and we will be contacting customers and dealers and getting those new barrels out and the new ones back.

Its no different then the Glock Gen4's that had issues when they first came out. All im saying is im sure people will be holding off on buying tell it appears all issues have been fixed. Due to the fact you have 27-or 30 in stock, i certainly hope people still buy them. Ive been buying from Wolverine Supplies for years and I want your business to flourish, if you got stuck with that inventory it would really suck. I dont blame people at this point for being cautious as 1200 to 1400 bux is not chump change.

I understand where you are coming from for sure. They guns are moving fine, I just wanted to help clarify that both UTAS and us here at the shop are making sure that everything is made right with these and to try and clarify that a lot of the negative reviews online aren't the gospel. I know I have seen lots of videos praising firearms that I personally have seen a plethora of problems with, so it does boil down to the old "grain of salt" scenario. I get lots of emails and phones here from people telling me how much they love these shotguns, it is just unfortunate, that the happy people tend to post way less on the forums that the unhappy ones.

I've personally put ALOT of rounds through both versions of these guns and they continue to amaze me how well they work and how slick that action gets after they are broken in. The biggest thing people need to remember is that these need to be used "forcefully" and to adjust just their shooting style for this type of firearm.

I would be interested in this. I'm a Mossberg 500 lover, so if it doesn't run as well as that.....I don't want it. Conversely, If it runs as well or better.......Well :p

lol im a mossy lover too, and imo, there is not much out there that works as well as a Mossy. They will eat anything, not finicky on ammo at all. Love those guns.

I was one of the guys who put his name on the waiting list. Even though there were a lot of negative reviews surrounding this shotgun.
I waited a few months for it to arrive. Took it to the range and the wields let go after 29 rounds.
I really wanted to like this shoot gun. But had to send it back. I thank you for the hassle free refund.

Q: Would I go out and spend 1500 hund on this shotgun again ???

A: It will take a lot of convincing ?

How hard is it to wield ?? If they can't do that what else is wrong with the QC.
That is some of the questions I had to ask myself.

I am glad to hear all is well and good with the UTS 15"s current production, but I am still not ready to put my $$$ down on one at the present time.

Sorry!!

Wolverine sent the UTS-15 to me for our Team Three Gun shoot this last weekend.

Including playing with it on the range and use at the match, it probably had 10 different shooters and about 200 rounds through it. The only issues experienced were with short stroking, the gun itself functioned without fail. The failures were with the shooters.

I used it on one stage at the match without problem, and was done my half of the targets much faster than my partner with his 870. I've got a video of that I'll post shortly.

Thanks again to Wolverine for the chance to try out this neat shotgun.

Edit: video of me running it on the Steel Town stage at our Team Three Gun. I thought I had a round chambered to start, but must have forgotten to. Still working on best camera placement to capture the action.

Great video Stevo! Glad to hear that it all worked out for you, I had no doubts that it would.

Nice video Steveo!.

Hey, try putting it on the gun and take the weight penalty <uurrrgh!> :D

I second OPs opinion. My first generation UTS was junk and I returned it. I was hoping the new version will be better, but I guess not..

KSG on the other hand is fantastic.

Shotgun is on the road and winging its way onto tester number 2. The testers will be providing feedback and photos and video. There is a thread in our forum for those of you who are interested in checking out the results of independent testers using this fine little shotgun.
