Hi guys,

Could / Would somebody please explain to me why it seems impossible to find "modern" (and I do not mean that in a bad way) Colt SAA revolvers with the "old style" grips? They looked like black rubber but I think were called "gutta percha" ... an exotic (for the time) rubber-based product that I think preceded Mr. Goodyear and his high-tech innovations ... like Vulcanization, I think.

It seems that all the manufacturers offer everything BUT these accurate-for-the-time grips. Wood, fake ivory, real ivory, whatever ... what's the problem with inexpensive/vintage black rubber? Faux, or otherwise?

Thanks.

Aha! Thank you for that research and info.

I wonder why manufacturers like Pietta (who you think would be striving for authenticity) don't take advantage of these sources.

Good question! Ruger New Vaqueros do have that type of grip as standard, although of course they have a Ruger logo on them ....
