Gepard GM6 .50 BMG

Neat little rifle. I wonder if it would be a prohib as :

•The firearm of the design commonly known as the Gepard long-range sniper rifle, and any variant or modified version of it.

Very cool, but could you imagine a how devastating a breach failure would be?
Curious to know what measures were taken to protect the operator in the case of such an event...

My guess on function:

Upon firing, barrel recoils with the bolt. Bolt locks at the rear and barrel moves forward, stripping the empty. When barrel is fully forward, the bolt is released, travels forward, and loads a fresh round.

Sound about right?

That is impressive.

Well, it's prohibited by name, but that was the original model, which was a single shot weird anti material rifle.

If the next model was made under a different name it would be non-restricted, since it is neither similar in name or mechanism.

Well if Wikipedia info has any truth to it, common sense would say the GM-6 Lynx is NOT a variant of "The firearm of the design commonly known as the Gepard long-range sniper rifle"...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gepard_anti-materiel_rifle

Wiki also lists the Lynx as being in service in the Indian Special Forces...

This is the website for the rifle, I guess... http://www.sero.hu/lynx/models.html
