German Helmet Help

Not an expert here but I have seen a few originals. I am gonna say it’s not authentic, the decals look quite modern and the “flaking” of them is usually a problem with reproduction decals. The liner is not correct for a German helmet nor is the chinstrap placement. An original German helmet liner used 3 split pins to hold it in place and the chinstrap loops were attached to the helmet. I hate to say it but I really don’t think it is an original helmet. Mabey the shell was at one time and was reworked post war? Look for maker and size marks on the skirt of the helmet, usually at the back or right by your ear on the inside, any markings there would help to tell you if the shell was originally a German helmet.

It is possible you have a Finnish helmet, which was made on the original WW2 dies, and was surplused along the way. There are any number of differences if you let your Goofle Search skills go wild.

it dosnt look original as said previous split pins that hold the liner in place are not seen on this helmet ,the chin strap on an original was fastened to the liner ,this helmet shows them spot welded to the helmet shell and also the liner is not correct.it should have size stamp above right ear and maker code at rear.

That's one odd looking helmet. It does have WW2 German decals but it's definitely not something issued to German combat troops during WW2. It's also not Finnish WW2 helmet. Shape is off, position of vent hole is off, if it's a vent hole is off, also total absence of liner rivets. How does liner being attached to the helmet? It's usually done by rivets on the sides, I'm not seeing any.
It's does somewhat look like an M16 but crappy replica of one.

Morning and all help and responses were appreciated.
Unfortunately, the seller is unable to find any stampings on the inside of the helmet.
He is concerned about damaging the liner.

Thanks again for all the help
