hello
fellow collectors i need info on what the going price is for a 1944 german bcd . this rifle was brought back by a canadian vet who served in france in 44-45 . from what i have been told this rifle is a late war production . it has a 1943 bys barrel the bolt is not matching to the rifle but it is only approx. 200 numbers apart both start hh.the stock is complete but seems to be older . that the receiver and barrel. from what i have read and researched near the end of german war production. they where throwing rifles together from large bins of parts . this is what this rifle may be .
any info on value would be great.
thanks

Condition is everything. Is the barrel worn out or shiny with good rifling? Is the stock beat to hell? As well, things such as sling bayonets, etc will ad more value as will a letter of provenance that shows the rifle was a bring back. Post pics and the resident gurus should be able to put an accurate value to it.

You really need to post more pics of the receiver (left and right side) and of the bolt serial numbers, as well as the front bands, buttplate and triggerguard.

It appears to be a bolt mismatch, stock appears to be the flat butplate and not the cupped, however, before jumping to conclusions, what are the serial numbers stamped in the stock wrist and the numbers stamped in the wood and the eagles (WaffenAmts)? What are the numbers on the triggerguard, front bands and the rest of the metal parts?

By knowing this information, it tells the story of the rifle, and the value.

The gun has an early stock and the barrel band with sling swivel is on the wrong side of the gun. I would say it's probably as good as some of the Russian rebuilds. You can probably look at around $300 for it.

Hello
the barrel band was my fault i put it on wrong when i took it apart to clean . as for the serial numbers there all matching except for the bolt with is hh 2538 and the rest of the rifle is hh 2935. 397 apart .

there is a rack number stamped on the butt it has a old style eagle and a small circle . the only waffenamt is on the forward rifle band and its a 77

Can you post pics of all the metal parts that are numbered?

That would possibly be both the front bands, triggerguard, bolt...etc. Also, under the handguard there should be a number stamped into the wood.

What you are looking for on these parts is 2935 or 35 on the metal parts.

Let us know what you find.

No numbers or eagles on the stock?

If it is the factory stock, it should be Gustloff marked with a C on the underside of the butt comb and inspector marked WaA18 from the factory.

Do you have a pic of the rack numbers on the stock?

has anyone else heard of these rifles being thrown together at the end of WW2 from bins full of old parts ???

The 14466 number on the stock looks to be a post war addition as the Germans only numbered on the wrist, not on the side.
The WaA is pre 1938-1939ish on the stock.

Is there a number on the trigger guard?
Front Band?
Sling Band?

Any Electropencil Numbers?

What condition is the bore?

I don't know if its a bring back. The purple bolt indicates a Russian rebuild...unless of course the bolt was put on later.

No, you're wrong on that. The purple color, actually PLUM (ie:extractor) is a reaction in the blueing/heat treating process and that is very common and seen on original rifles.

Waffenamt 77 is Steyr BNZ in Austria and Radom Poland under Steyr managemant 1940-44. 77 is also found on FN made barrels. The stock has an early droop eagle. This is a BCD action, but a lot of other parts put on. Was this done during the end of the war? Maybe but it will be hard to get more than 300-400 dollars as not much matching and barrel condition is important.
Collectors will pay double or triple that, but a 98K must be much more matching from the same factory than your example and v.good+ condition.
I think you have received some generally good advice all around.
