Finally got my hands on an early rifle. What an extreme opposite to the late war I typically collect. Matching from front side blade to buttplate. The quality is exceptional, the bluing remains deep and dark, minor wear. 28 matching serial numbers, only one missing is an unserialled cleaning rod. Note the Early barrel code arrangement and the curved sling bar on the front band. Walther made receiver and rear sight parts. Parts with one waa mid or none late have 2 or more, waffenamts are applied to the smallest of parts including the cleaning rod nut, action locking screws and the ejector and spring, in addition to the standard box markings. There is still old grease in the barrel channel.

Hello
That really is a nice specimen. Would you mind sharing with us where you found it in the States? Also for a war model with matching numbers, what kind of money did it cost?

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Ummmmm, well kind of a moot point with the new import regulations but a collector friend found it, and ended up with 2 1936 S/147. This rifle would likely be $2500-3000 usd on the open market stateside. Super early and super late fetch the most cash, with special contracts being similar values in the more common years.

Andrew, you take the nicest phone pics I have ever seen.

Oh quit it, that'll go straight to his head! Happy he masked the particle board background though haha ;)

On a serious note, that's a fantastic rifle bud! Can't wait to take a look at it in person ... after I've eaten a bag of salt and vinegar chips! :dancingbanana:
