Got these two awhile back , just thought Id show em off maybe get a value for both

First ones a Late hitler youth knife rough maybe like 0.09% nickel remaining on it lol a patch here and their, one side of the grip has a big piece of it missing which was there when I bought the knife I just assumed it could be battle damage I still like it "apparently" its a vet bring back from Italy that was taken off the original (dead) owner but isn't confirmed, its original as far as I can tell, No lip on the sheath, the diamond movement is perfect and gold around the swastika itself as its suppose to. Also ive never seen a makers mark like this one on any other german knife/dagger from this time wondering if someone knows it.

The Hudson Bay store in Vancouver used to sell Hitler Youth knives, with the Nazi symbol removed and with a aluminum Boy Scout Fleur De Lis in it’s place.
Can't remember what I paid for mine

That HJ blade is heavily sharpened. Remember, these knives were used, and I mean USED by kids. Ever seen a kid with a knife that hadn't been abused?
Broken parts and heavily resharpened blades are common.

All I know about the police dagger/bayo is that I want it! Have been working on a Horster collection and I need one of these yet... Did you get it from an auction or a private sale?

nah, I told my grandfather I wanted to start collecting German memorabilia k98's SS daggers etc, and the dagger was the first thing he found for me no idea where or how but 2 days after I said I was interested in collecting Reich items he showed me this and I loved it enough to pay $500.00 for it, I figure for what it is and what its done and whom it was previously owned and made by its most likely worth more then what i paid for it, not that selling it has crossed my mind (YET! lol)

Also dynamite may I ask since you collect E&F Horster, If I ever was to sell it what would be a good price to ask for it?

12SS never served in Italy..................Belgium (June '43 - Mar '44), France (Mar '44 - Sept '44), Belgium/Western Germany (Sept '44 - Dec '44), Ardennes (Dec '44 - Jan '45), Western Germany (Jan '45 - Feb '45), Hungary/Austria (Feb '45 - May '45).

Hitler Youth knives usually had the emblem loose or missing.Still made in Spain.many Nazi fakes out there.Bakelite easily broken.Harold

the dagger isn't SS Neither of those items are "I told my grandfather I wanted to start collecting German memorabilia k98's SS daggers etc," is what I said pertaining to the SS. didn't mean he hunted down a $10,000 SS dagger which looks nothing like my dagger by the way. The Dagger is a clamshell dagger Which were issued to Police (some in Italy) and also used in parade dress.

You have a great Grandpa! Wonder what else he will bring out of hiding for you! You should see if he knows any of the story behind who brought them back. I know, buy the item, not the story, but I always try to find out what ever I can behind what I collect.

The police bayos are more of a newer area for me, but I think you did pretty well. You paid about what I would want to pay for one, but I think you still have room to make something off it if you were to sell. Condition looks not all that bad either, so that's a plus.

I was posting in response to you saying it was a vet bring back from italy. The hitler youth (12SS Panzer Gr.) never served in italy (please correct me tho if i am wrong). That unit never formed until the summer of '43, and wasnt fully combat ready until late in that year. Italy proper had surrendered and changed sides by then, and I do believe the fighting died down to a mostly static nature, with the operations to be in france taking the initiative.

Not trying to sound like the negative guy, please dont interpret it that way, just might not be an accurate story about it being a vet bring back from italy. Like another poster said, that particular blade is a very popular one to fake. Any of the experts on here have any advice on how to confirm authenticity? I am genuinely curious........

And not to derail...........but the unit history of 12SS is quite fascinating. For a bunch of kids, they fought like demons. They made their name in the operations around Caen that summer, putting up one hell of a fight.

lol I apologize panzer, I thought you were talking about the clamshell dagger, as I said in the initial posting the story of its bring back was unconfirmed (until now) as false , though I still feel the knife itself to be authentic, though the diamond has a piece of red enamel missing all other pieces are their and are enamel the bordering of the swastika is in gold (Fake diamonds have a bordering of silver around the swastika) and the diamond itself wiggles Which it is suppose to A lot of fake hitler youth knives will have the diamond Glued into place not allowing any wiggle. Also Most ALL authentic Hitler youth knives Started out with a piece of leather at the bottom of the blade to stop the sheath and handle from contacting eachother Mine is missing of course but with the condition of the knife I wasn't surprise that it wasn't on it as for the sheath, (yes the sheaths have been faked too.) A lip. if the sheath has a lip it is 100% fake no ifs ands or buts no Hitler youth knife ever had a lip on the sheaths

Also back in the 60's I think it was a stash of unissued hitler youth knives was found in Germany, before they could be sold they needed to be marked with an export country : GERMANY IF you find a hitler youth knife which is marked Germany walk away and feel safe knowing its fake

Shouldn't the HJ dagger have the following inscription on the blade: "Blut Und Ehre!"?
