GSG appears to be coming out with a blowback PCC 9mm using GSG16 type furniture.

Glock 17 or Sig 320 mags will give it a 10 round capacity but will take away from a MP5 type of look

No announcement for Canada. ATI was selling a pistol version of this last year in the states.

Do you know what ATI was selling the pistol version for?

I'm in the market for a 9mm PCC this year, price dependent this could be interesting.

Just checked out GSG's IG page.
I was not aware they had so many options out there.

The .22lr "AK" looks like it would be a blast!

ak has been there awhile but wont do us any good, prohib. the gsg-16 long rifle and pistol versions are new (it says pre-order) . luckily the pistol has a stock so it wont be called pistol here.

Stock or no, it could be classified as a rifle here. Look at the Mares Legs - those are pistols stateside but rifles here. (at least, the 12" models are rifles here, the 9" models are handguns)

So, if a pistol and rifle version comes out = 5 shot max clip.

It sounds like these use glock and Sig mags?

If the mag was proprietary then yes, rifle mags would be limited to 5, and chances are likely that we'd never see a pistol version to get 10 round mags, because who is gonna bring them into the country when there is like 12 people they can sell them to?

Oh jeez. If it comes out anywhere close to $1500 here, you'd have to be on some pharmaceutical grade drugs to spend that kind of money on a GSG, lol.

you are comparing lever action to a semi auto? really?

no, no stock it will be a pistol, just like the VZ61 4" barrel in the US minus the stock attachment, with the overfolder its a rifle here and a SBR in the US.

Yes I am comparing a semi auto to a lever action, because action type doesn't matter - the Mares Leg is BOTH a rifle and a pistol, depending on barrel length, and neither have a stock. Stateside both are handguns.

Alternatively, things that WOULD be considered rifles in the states, such as the Rossi Circuit Judge carbine with its 18" barrel are considered handguns in Canada.

You can't make assumptions based on what things are classified in the US, because we don't use the same system.

For a plastic clan shell gun, the price 'shouldl' be about the MP-40 9mm. Otherwise, Ruger is already a better gun.

I read that the upper receiver is machined aluminum (not cast zymat like the GSG44) for the GSG9. All the furniture on the pistol is off the shelf GSG16 though

P320 mag compatibility brings something unique. Otherwise it's into an extra GHM9 P320 lower, the Gen2 S2K Multimag, or a Ruger PC with a 3D-print hack magwell, for P320 compatibility?
If the price is right, I'd consider the 9mm restricted. For a GSG that price would need to be <$800 which may be unlikely for a restricted (the 9mm MP40 NR msrp provides some possibility).
Tbh I've gone cold on new 9mm non-restricted semis, after running smaller options 18.5"s feel too big for the bang.

Manual actions don't have a barrel length rule. Like why I can have a 16.5" barrel on Lee Enfield, but semi auto centerfire to be NR has to have a minimal barrel length of 18.5. So you want one with a less than 18.5 you're looking at restricted firearm.

Sure. But we're discussing classification as handgun vs rifle, not NR vs R.

pistol vs rifle on a semi, not lever or revolver so let me ask you this, a VZ61 is as small as a pistol without the attachment for a overfolder what would the rcmp classify it as?
